Hakeem and Clyde were just announced on ESPN as the starting 5 roster of Conference USA for being the best at their positions in their division in the history of C-USA basketball. Just thought it was worth making note of.
Oh please don't tell me they're trying to push Hakeem and Clyde as having played for "Conference USA."
Jeez. If ESPN hadn't included them, people would b****. If ESPN includes them, people b****. Just be happy that they're getting an honor. It's not like ESPN was going to have a 25-year all-SWC team.
The other 3 players were Darrell Griffith, Penny Hardaway and Marg Aguirre. There's a lot of CUSA history in that starting 5.
Thanks Outlaw. I see. So simply not playing for CUSA by itself is not enough to qualify. You had to not play in the last 25 years. I think I got it now.
I don't have a problem with them technically not being in CUSA. Teams change conferences. Their old conference doesn't even exist anymore. The team they played for is now in CUSA. Why complain?
Great for Dream & The Glide for getting props even though they played in the SW conference & not C-USA.
OK, so who would you name to the Southwest Conference silver anniversary team? Let's see...Darvin Ham? Uhhh.....Let's face it, the SWC wasn't exactly a hoops powerhouse conference...
Wow, you're pretty quick there... I was watching the ACC silver anniversary team. It's amazing how many great players have been in that conference. You could make a silver anniversary team just from Duke or UNC players over the past 25 years...
The Southwest Conference also had two of the more charmed big men (charmed meaning their careers were much better than their talent): Jon Koncak and Joe Kleine
