I don't know whether I'm the only one, but everytime when I go for a haircut, 9 out of 10 times, I'm ended up not happy with the way they cut my hair, and I usually have to come back home to fix it myself (at least in the front) I tried all kind of place, cheapie place, and expensive salon, however, they're pretty much all the same, I'm talking about guy's medium cut. What's your take?
I have really thick hair on my head and I have to say that this is good advice. I don't go bald, but I shave it down really close to the scalp. It's easy, comfortable, and I think it looks good.
Where do you go to get your haircut? There's been several haircut threads that has good places for cuts. Once the search is back up you can look it up.
There are two places I get my hair cut. At place #1, the barber I use is excellent but I often have to wait a long time. At place #2, the guy isn't very good at all but I never have to wait. For the last 9 months or so, I go to place #2. One of these days I'll get fed up, go back to #1 once or twice and then return to #2 because I'll quickly get tired of waiting 45-75 minutes. The thing about barber #2 is it's obvious he doesn't realize how bad he is.
After your haircut, take digital pictures of your head. Print 'em out. Next time you go in for a cut, show them to the haircutter and indicate to them what you want done differently.
If anyone knows a "good" stylist, let me know. I typically give a hairdresser enough of a canvas, and none of them do a damn thing but cut it short again.
On the rare occasion that I find someone who cuts my hair right, I never see them again. Of course, the person who does a ****ty job is there at the door just waiting for me. Just a #1 on the sides and back, blended in, short on top. It's not that tough of a haircut. It's guys haircut 101. I don't know how you can screw it up. But people do.
Go to an oldschool barber shop. There are still a few to choose from in Houston. I alternate between one in Bellaire and one in Montrose. It'll cost ya about $12, but they never screw it up.
I used to get my hair cut by a salty old dude (former military type) named Bill. He kicked ass. Then one day he moved off to Rosebud, TX to retire. Now I get my hair cut by a gay dude in the heights. I pay twice as much for half as good of a hair cut. But at least the chicks in there are hotttttttttt.
