Subjectively, I found that Saw Palmetto did a really good job of reducing a personal increase in baldeness awhile back. I found this (again subjectively) to be much more effective than something like rogaine. On the other hand, I found that rogaine, whether it worked or not, always inspired in me an introspective and melencholy but not depressive mood, in much the way that Indian mystics used to use the (pharmacologicaly similar) reserpine from various Rauwolfia species, but I digress. I think the studies show the bottom line to be that nothing known is effective for everyone in regrowing hair, and the best that you can reasonably expect is a cessation of loss. I think that the numbers show that something like 10% of the people on rogaine have regrowth, and almost always this consists of small, fine, invisible hair like you'd find on your arm. While various other treatments might have a slightly higer rate of success, I know for a fact that nothing blows rogaine out of the water. The bottom line is that if you look for a treatment to regrow hair, you're going to probably be pretty disapointed. But, the good news is that (a.) you can stop further loss, (b.) it probably is more noticable to you than to others, and (c.) biochemestry is progressing as such a rate that 20 years from now they may be able to regrow hair and block the testosterone specific receptors in your head so that a full head of hair may be eventually legitimately possible.
Thanks for the info dude. That is a well constructed and sincere post. Not many like that around here very often lately.
