how many people here have read this book? i'm interested in forming sort of a bond or community of intellectual/spiritual "family" with those that have been/are being influenced by this book or others of its genre. i know it's late at night, but i just ran across someone that has been influenced by eastern philosophy and it is always a pleasure, if not an awakening, to the power we all have inside of us. with that power comes great responsibility and i would like to communicate with others that understand/share that background and belief.
I've heard about Hagakure, never read it though. Its the Book of the Samurai, if I recall. Bascially I think it places a strong emphasis on the notion of living in the present moment with a strong and clear mind. Living in the moment is something I try to practice on a daily basis, along with other Zen teachings. "Letting go" is another tenet of this way of life. Some other areas that amplify this arena is NLP. There are some other books I have read through the years, which I can recommend, which help with the latter portion of that earlier statement, of having a strong and clear mind.
I own a copy and I've read it several times. I find it helpful to reference it every so often. Its a great and inspiring book. Not so much philosophy, per se, than a book of anecdotes and wisdom of the samurai: Great stuff. Here's another one:
