You laugh, but a vast majority of the posters here are rat brain chunks and typing monkeys.

I've actually done this. I was researching alzheimers. It's not really a brain like they make it sound. It's just a microscopic layer of cells/neurons in solution. They do, however, start out as little raindrops and then start reaching out for each other and connecting. But that takes time.

To get the cells/neurons you purchase a pregnant rat, then you disect out the babies without totally killing the mother. You see if the mother dies your baby brain cells die too. So you have to keep her alive. You then disect out part of the babies brain using a microsocope. You do about eleven of these brains while the babies are on ice. Once you have all the parts of the brain you want, then you use density/liquids to sort out the cells from the extra brain debris. Then you layer those cells into a solution that will keep them alive and functioning. Eventaully they spread out and connect. It's really not that hard to do. But very interesting.

To cure alzheimers, the idea then is to put different chemicals on the neurons, try to kill the neurons, and then if the neurons stay alive you may just have a chemical worth looking at.
