Thats what you get when you run a Mickey Mouse Madden offense so you can fool some people into thinking you are actually a good coach fielding a good team. When in reality you aren't fooling anybody with your stupid lei and your stupid bald head and your convict Eminem-Wannabe Kliff Kingsbury Klone. Bye Bye Hawaii.
Hawaii is a joke.. "Number 1 offense in the country" has 3 points halfway thru the third.. Lmao... Too bad they're getting exposed so badly infront of the whole country. Quite embarrassing. You can't hang with the SEC. Nope nope..
Hawai'i seems awfully talkative considering they're getting killed. For all it's faults, Texas Tech's offense is designed with a pronounced talent inferiority in mind. Leach created that offense to deal with the fact that they will always be smaller, weaker and slower than the other team all the way across the board. They've also gotten experience dealing with bigger, better opponents - which is why they can beat Virginia(with Al Groh's help) or pop up and beat OU and Texas every couple of years. Meanwhile, Hawai'i's offense looks like they expected to play against WAC defenses - that they'd get all day to pass - that Brennan could take a deep drop from the shotgun, and the defensive end wasn't going to blow past the tackle and kill him. There isn't near the misdirection that Tech employs. I'm not sure what they were thinking taking this offense against Georgia.
I like Hawaii. What's wrong with So Cal cool? I was praying for something entertaining. Rose Bowl sucked. All the other bowls sucked. I missed the Techsas Virginia game.
I really don't care that much about College Football, I just think it is pretty stupid how Hawaii can play a cupcake schedule and fool people into believing they are actually good enough to hang with any team from the SEC, let alone Georgia. Plus most people will agree that June Jones is mostly a grade A cockflounder. And pretty-boy turned outlaw Brennan's stats are ridiculously overinflated and they should have given him the Heisman to seal his fate as Gunslinger turned NFL dud.
And some people actually thought Hawaii should have been in the national championship game. What a joke. LSU would have beaten them by 50. The "Cinderella" BCS teams are getting exposed big time this year. Illinois was absolutely steamrolled by USC, and Hawaii is getting embarrassed by Georgia. Next up: Kansas?
Brennan might be crippled after this game. Their useless OLine cannot protect him. Also, Hawaii has some filthy looking guys. It's as if they've never met soap.
If only the bowls had a way to see this coming... if, say, maybe another potential at-large team had a better record than Illinois and beat them head-to-head, maybe they could've avoided this... oh wait! I understand, as many others have argued here, that the BCS is about more than rewarding the most deserving teams... matchups are a factor, as well as back room promises and things like that. But the sports media needs to stop parading the BCS as college football's elite as long as it's passing on superior teams for the sake of perceived ratings or matchups or conference tie-ins. Everyone here knows I'm usually the first one to cheer for the underdog... yet I'm essentially forced to cheer for SC, Georgia and VT to win in blowouts. There has to be a better way.
The major bowl games need to get rid of their conference tie-ins. If USC is not in the title game, you can always bet on them playing Michigan, OSU, or in this case Illinois in the Rose Bowl. What a joke.
I never felt Hawaii deserved to be in the top 10. After watching a couple of their games, it was obvious to me they were not as good as last year's Boise State team. The announcer sounded like an idiot when he said they handled the "pressure" of being a one and done team very well all season. What a joke! Then he complained about the Georgia fans chanting "Overrated". This beatdown can't be sugarcoated. Hawaii got exposed as the fraud they were. Uga has got to be the ugliest mascot in history. Couldn't stop laughing.
Generally agree. I think the tie-ins themselves are somewhat flawed, but it's when they're carried to an illogical level like this year that things really get crazy. I respect the tradition argument and how it applies to college football. However, the "tradition" of the Rose Bowl is the champion of the Pac 10 vs. the champion of the Big 10. When the Rose lost OSU to the national championship, picking Illinois doesn't save the tradition. The "tradition" is already gone at that point. The next priority should be to host the best game possible. The Rose had the first choice among all BCS bowls... they could've taken 10-2 No. 4 Georgia, the hottest team in the country out of the best conference in the country. They could've taken 11-2 No. 6 Missouri, which has two wins over BCS teams and was No. 1 in the last week of the season. Instead... they take 9-3 No. 13 Illinois, who actually had a head-to-head loss... to Missouri! Rose brought it all on themselves... couldn't be more thrilled with the dud they ended up with.
So much for that Boise State syndrome that plagued the Sooners last Fiesta Bowl. Hawaii had to show up but, it's pretty obvious that the Warriors are not used to championship level of competition that ALL SEC opponents face EVERY WEEK! Oh well, better luck next decade Warriors. So much for being relevant and for even being considered for a BCS game. Embarrassing performance!
