GWAR will be playing the Engine Room on April 25. Somehow, this will be my first GWAR concert. Has anyone here been to see them in the past? They're essentially the last must-see act on my list of bands I've yet to witness that still tours. It will be a bittersweet day seeing them.
Do they still have the same members? I saw on some VH1 special a while back that they were going to try to keep going forever and just replace members as the other ones left/died/etc. I think their first two albums are pretty good.
I saw them at the Axiom when they came to Houston the first time. They gave birth to a new member of the band on stage. It was an interesting and messy show.
i like that part in the movie empire records where that guy is eating a special brownie and watches a Gwar video. very funny.
A friend of mine had one of their videos YEARS ago and another friend knew the founding members. Apparently, a number of them were film students at a college in Virginia and they were really into Fangora and other horror-related film stuff. I guess the band makes sense for them.
i'm hardcore like GWAR! i remember watching a video of there's my neighbor had when i was in 7th grade or so. that thing was bat-sh*t crazy. giant phalluses(?) shooting jiz everywhere and all sorts of trippy/freaky stuff..... it was one of the coolest videos i had ever seen.
I went to a GWAR concert at Fitzegerald's, I think, back aroun '97. I hadn't listened to much of their music back then but was a general fan of the genre, when done well. I knew what to expect, but it was still "surprising". Had a great time, though likely wasn't sober at all.
I've seen them 4 times. Excellent show every time. Once they opened for them selves as the X-cops, then took a break and came back and did an entire GWAR show.
Whoa, major necro-bump. DAMN I've been checking this website daily for a long time! I hear GWAR is touring this fall with a new singer. What are the chances that works?
