I know there has only been 4 games, that is why I am asking you based on your gut feeling and gut feeling only as of now.

"Some of us" called ourselves championship contenders. I won't mention any names...

We will play better, but I am waiting for Daryl to make something happen.

    Nope.

This 4 game stretch only looks worse than it is because its the 1st 4. Otherwise, the fan base wouldn't be losing their minds like they are.

I made a thread about this before the season started. I was sick of all these homers calling us world champs already.

If only I could search and dig that thread up ;/

Yes. Especially defensively considering how they preached they've been trying to be more hardnosed during the training camp.

Did I expect the team to start 0-4?
    No.
But, am I shocked we did?
    Uh, again, no.

I still think this team will finish around 50 wins, like I expected. So, nah on the overrating of the team.
The infinite abyss of chaos going on right now is just people trying to vent, to bring a little excitement to their boring life. The internet has given everyone a chance to express their opinions, and the net has made people believe that because they are exposed to a small glimpse of a culture they are now experts on it. These players, and the coaching staff, and the high suits are the pro's...I trust they will get it figured out. If they don't, I trust they will make the moves to fix it. ;)

I am surprised given the language that players, coaches, and reporters were using in training camp. For all purposes it sounded like these Rockets were ahead of where past teams had been. It could all be Yao though; I hope it is. He's not where he needs to be right now for us to win games. Hopefully he gets there, and soon.

I thought coming into the season that we would be slightly better than last year. And when it's all said and done, I still think we will be. But I definitely wasn't expecting us to be any serious contenders. When your team has players that play on only one side of the court and a coach who seems to concern himself with playing only on one side of the court, I don't see how there can be any serious notion of contention. I expect us to make the playoffs but I would have to answer no at this point.

No doubt about it, I sure did....

But I thought that the coaches would have played only 8 or 9 guys and sat those that are good but didn't fit correctly.

I never in a million years thought they would be trying to play everybody.

Our play is about where I expected. I didn't think we'd start 0-4 but I think that we are not that bad.

We'll make it into the playoffs as a lower seed. I don't think this team is substantially better than last years.

Good point. I'm not that upset about the start. At least not compared to most people here. I also predicted we'd miss the playoffs. I can understand the people who think of us as a playoff team. I can't understand the people who thought of us as a top 4 team in the West and/or a Championship contender.

There was little doubt in my mind before the season that we'd make the playoffs. Now, quite a bit of doubt.

So, I guess the answer is yes. In particular, I overrated our defense. I thought we'd be able to mask the defensive deficiencies of our backcourt with more size in the middle. I thought we'd be a more potent 3-point shooting team. I thought we'd be a scrappier, more energetic team.

Its early, and things can turn around. The schedule gets easier pretty soon.

I sure didn't. I accused all the cheerleaders here of expecting too much and I was called a Debbie Downer and a horrible fan. All for just for trying to be realistic.

I just never got the logic of "well, we took the lakers to 7 games 2 years ago, so we'll be good this year". Anyone who really watched that series knows the lakers were just toying with us once Yao went down.

I still think we'll win more games than we lose, but I honestly don't see us making any noise in the playoffs. This roster (not rotation...) just has too many holes in it.

This is a good team with a good nucleus and a dam good coach. They need to get everyone on the same page and figure out how they want to play, once that happens, they will be just fine.

I said 53 wins and i'm sticking to it.

I overrated the Drive in our players too. I thought we would be hungrier. We were a team of castoffs trying to prove a point. Now it seems we expected to win with Yao coming back.

Did I mention this is depressing?

They're only 10-3 if you take out Rockets games...

    Yeah, DUH!

This team has the tools to still do it.

Want to blame something for a crappy start?

Blame the hectic, inconsistency of the training camp and preseason the Rockets had to deal with.

If they had to run around to different places less e.g. practicing in austin, playing in rio grande, exhibition practice in the middle of nowhere, and travelling to China... That was our biggest problem. We clearly needed solid practice time to assimilate everyone into the team which we did not get.

Grumpy old (Adel)man was being grumpy for good reason.

Not that we can't turn it around with more playing time... I fully expect us to do so and get back on track to what probably the majority of clutchfans were expecting.

Edit: We can't really tell if we overrated the team until we get around to the 20 game mark or even midseason...
