MAITLAND, Fla. -- Gunmen attacked three people outside the home of Orlando Magic point guard Troy Hudson, fatally shooting a 20-year-old man and pistol-whipping a 15-year-old boy, police said Monday.

Hudson wasn't home late Sunday when a car pulled into his driveway, two men got out and opened fire, police in this wealthy Orlando suburb said.

It was the second time in three days the home was targeted, said Bill Neff, Hudson's agent. He said robbers broke into the home Friday night, taking several hundred dollars and attacking some guests after being unable to find Hudson's car keys.

Hudson wasn't home then, either. He had refused to return to the house after the first robbery and was staying elsewhere in the Orlando area when Sunday's shooting occurred.

"They came back when they couldn't get the car keys and shot people,'' Neff said.

The dead man was identified as Carrick Reid, 20, of Orlando. The 15-year-old wasn't identified by authorities. A third person, Cleveland Fields, 27, of Maitland, escaped the house through a rear window, police said.

Neff said Reid, Fields and the teen are friends and relatives of Hudson.

Police spokesman Lt. Gary Calhoun said detectives had no suspects.

Neff said he didn't think the robbers knew it was Hudson's home.

"It's a random-enough act from the sound of it,'' Neff said. "They didn't know it was Troy's house they were trying to get.''

In a statement released by the Magic, Hudson expressed grief for Reid's family and said he was cooperating with the investigation.

"I am saddened and stunned by his untimely death,'' Hudson said.

Either way it would have gotten onto the news somehow. It's probably a 3.5 million dollar mansion. With that said, they would have had a story on it whether or not it was a basketball player.

It wasn't a big mansion (Hudson hasn't even made $3.5 million in his career, lol), but a nice house. Probably worth about $250,000. A decent part of town just north of Orlando, but not great.

They tried to rob him before and he wasn't there; afterward, he moved to another house elsewhere in Orlando to get away from it.

It doesn't sound too random to me. Some guys come and do a pretty violent robbery at the house and then comes back a few days later to do it again? And, after the first attempt, Hudson didn't go back to the house because he was afraid it would happen again? Now, it is a common reaction to be afraid of a repeat, but the fear coupled with the fact that it was repeated and only soon after and with the fact that both incidents were violent makes the whole thing fishy. It seems to me Hudson or his friend/relative must have some previous history with these guys.
