DENVER — Sales of handguns, rifles and ammunition have surged in the last week, according to gun store owners around the nation who describe a wave of buyers concerned that an Obama administration will curtail their right to bear arms. “He’s a gun-snatcher,” said Jim Pruett, owner of Jim Pruett’s Guns and Ammo in northwest Houston, which was packed with shoppers on Thursday. “He wants to take our guns from us and create a socialist society policed by his own police force,” added Mr. Pruett, a former radio personality, of President-elect Barack Obama. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/07/us/07guns.html?_r=1&oref=slogin sad sad people....
I work with some gun enthusiasts who just own as well as some hunters and believe me this is an issue with them.
gun by my side just in case I gotta run. a boy on the side of Babylon, trying to front like he's down with Mount Zion

Jim Pruett. No wonder he's not on the radio anymore. His voice was muffled with his head being so far up his ass.
A lot... and I mean a lot... of hunters I know were pro-Obama because the Bush administration obsession with drilling on public lands has been wrecking hunting habitat across the west. I have no doubt that gun nuts in Texas and the other places back east would be susceptible to the usual ridiculous NRA-generated fears, but in the Western states that have a high percentage of public lands, hunters were not the Republican stronghold they usually are and probably helped Obama in some states. Hunters like shooting and killing God's creatures, but they'd prefer to do it in somewhat pristine areas and without the whine of drilling equipment in the distance.
It's unfortunate, but there are few people who can complain about gun control without sounding like a hick.
Last week and a half I've been overwhelmed with people buying AR-15 and AK receivers. I had a couple of customers order 5 or 6 at a time. No rise in the purchase of handguns, shotguns, hunting rifles, or other guns - only guns that were banned by the 'assault weapons ban' which expired under Bush. If you want to purchase a custom AK receiver or AR-15 upper or lower, you are going to have to wait until right about inauguration day because of the backlog. And for the record Jim Pruitt is a nut. I met him at a gun show, and he makes the NRA look tame by comparison. He had a gun-based AM radio show that made him sound crazy, and I think he toned his stuff way down for his show. He also did a lot of Katrina race baiting a few years back.
It is basically a hedge against another assault weapons ban. Normal capacity magazines also are out of stock or very overpriced. I don't really see how it is funny.
I wonder why the people who so adamant about pro-life are usually the ones who like to kill things (deer, rabbits, turtles, death row inmates, etc.).
