    NBA OR NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71,repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits, and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?
Give up yet? . . . Scroll down,

    Neither,
it's the 535 members of the United
    States Congress.

It's on Snopes. It's questionable at best, but most of it is fabricated.

Sounds like America! Our leaders are a reflection of who we are/what we care about, nothing more. We're still a democracy, right?

It's questionable because it's quoting an e-mail with no documentation.

It's also an email that has been floating around since at least 1999.

No, because the information in it is flat wrong. I guarantee you that 31 current members of Congress have not "done time for assault". What do you think that Congressman get into streetfights in their spare time and then go "do time"? LOL, I don't think so.

It's actually 3 have done time for assault and it does not mention when. It could have been when they were teenagers. Considering the crap the president got into when he was young i do not find this so hard to believe.

This data shows why Republicans do so well in office nowadays.

I was sitting there thinking a lot of the numbers were kind of low for the NBA, and probably the NFL as well. :D

    http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/congress.htm

The claims are based mostly on things that they were "accused" of doing. I can accuse George Bush of sodomizing my dog. It doesn't make it true, but if I made the accusation, then I could send out a similar email saying that GWB is a dog rapist.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There's no way either league has only 3 assaults and 21 lawsuits. Of course, I was surprised that 71 professional ball players couldn't get a credit card -- it isn't suprising for Congress though.

If they were teenagers than the record would be sealed so you wouldn't know who's "done time" for assault. "done time" makes it seem btw that they're out in the state prison working on a chain gang rather than in county lock-up or a holding cell, lol.
