In my opinion, it is a disgrace to see so many bigmen up top. Bogut, Moore, Przybilla, O'Neal??? Are you kidding me? Didn't Jermaine play like in only half of the games?
Double sided disgrace. The guards beat their men so easy since there is no hand checking allowed, so the big men have to stop them. They can't attempt a block on a driver like Wade, Iverson, or Bryant because no matter what its an automatic foul. They must use their fouls wisely. Their only option is the charge.
Exactly. The way they call fouls on big men defending the paint, it's the only possible way to play defense, with the help of a little flopping. IMO, the way the NBA is encouraging "exciting" basketball by banning hand check and calling defensive foul on any type of contact when the perimeter guy is driving to the hoop (not to mention the prevalence of offensive flopping), I don't blame the interior defender to do their share of flopping.
looking at the shooting fouls drawn column; maggetty would be a steal for the MLE if the rockets could get him.
It would be very interesting to see if there is a ratio like, charges to blocking fouls by attempting to take a charge. Then you'd see the guys who are really trying to flop.
In my opinion, if Scola had had the rep of Battier and wasn't a rookie, his numbers would have been better. Luis really got the shaft on several called blocking fouls.
I love Scola, but he dove like the rest of the soccer moms. Is it a coincidence that there's 3 argentines in the top 20?
Yes flopping is bad but if you see bigman up there its not always a flop, Jermaine is one of the best in the league at getting his feet set and establishing position. Hes not a flopper, and hes man enough to contest and stuff the **** out of you if he cant get position
