From DD's recap of Daryl Morey's interview: "H: You are not done, things to take place, how many more moving pieces are there in play? You probably make one more move, Major, or minor? DM: We actually feel we are stable, we could go to TC with this roster, the main move we are focused on is a bigger type of move...well there are 2 moves we are focused on....small upgrades like the Rafer move last year, those are smaller moves that help us, and the other is a major move where we can trade for an all star caliber type player who is one already or who may develop into it...or a fading one that we think has more tread on the tires than others think, got to be opportunisitc, can't force it." Just for fun and bragging rights, guess the moves that DM is cooking: Here's my guess: Major - Carlos Boozer for Landry, Cook and Barry. Minor - Chuck Hayes and Joey Dorsey for Marc Gasol
Major - Lebron James for TMac, 2 knee braces and some Bag Balm. Minor - KG for Yao, 1 pair of crutches and a copy of the Chinese Roseta Stone.
Everyone is taking this out of context. Morey was simply stating the was simply sayng there are 3 ways of making a team better. One is via the draft which requires youre team to suck. That isnt happening with us according to him. the other two are small upgrades like the Rafer move last year, those are smaller moves that help us, and the other is a major move where we can trade for an all star caliber type player who is one already or who may develop into it...or a fading one that we think has more tread on the tires than others think. People need to focus on the part "got to be opportunisitc, can't force it.". In other words he doest even know what moves will be made yet. He just has to be ready when they present themselves. Man this board is dying for some action. Gotta love diehard fans I guess.
doubt its a trade of any kind...there should be a lot more buzz and massive hype in the days before a trade of any significance. last year before the ron artest trade there were massive speculation in the lines of rafer+bjax+battier for iverson and sudden engagement of people waiting by the phones in the rockets offices. hate to say it, but its probably going to be another anticlimax like how we were oh-so-close to grabbing amare from the suns but then exactly nothing happend.
Morey wasn't saying that a trade was imminent, or even likely to happen. All he was saying was that there are ways to make ANY team better through trade, and that's either through a minor trade (such as the Rafer trade) or a major trade (trading for an all-star, or former all-star). That's it.

....Can't tell if you're serious or not, but if you are, this might be the single dumbest trade I have ever seen here.
There are only 3 former all-star players that can signed to a contract or be traded for T-Mac namely, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, and Jermaine O'Neil. Now, AI is definitely NOT an option. Though Ray Allen might be a good option IF Rox is willing to take Tony Allen also and if Boston will take T-Mac and pay more luxury tax, but the idea of T-Mac playing with KG and Pierce with Sheed and Rondo is really interesting. And now, to our last option, (which really makes sense if not for the jersey no.) trade T-Mac for J.O. in miami, I think coach RA would love to have a C like J.O. its like an insurance for Yao in 2010-2011 season, On the other hand, T-Mac will play well with D-Wade but the problem is T-Mac's "new" jersey no. that might complicate his promotion for his documentary film. Oh well! just a guess...
Yeah, i guess i misunderstood it. Anyway, hope someone can edit the thread title and 1st post... "Guess the medium announcement" that is coming.
Houston gets K.Martin, Nocioni, Udrih, K.Thomas Sacramento gets McGrady, Battier, B.Cook, B.Barry, J.Taylor, J.White Hayes/Andersen/(Yao) Scola/Landry/Dorsey Ariza/Nocioni/Thomas Martin/(Wafer)/Budinger Brooks/Lowry/Udrih Hawes/May Thompson/Casspi/Cook Battier/Greene/(McGrady) Garcia/Taylor/White Evans/Rodriguez/Barry We get a great SG, Scola's boy Nocioni, and the Rocket legend Kenny Thomas. Sacramento saves a bunch of money and still has a decent starting 5.
I do think the "medium announcement" could be a Shane Battier type trade, something that upgrades our roster and will make most of us glad, but won't shake our world (of course, ANY Rockets news tends to shake our world these days). From what Morey said, he was speaking hypothetically about ways to upgrade but not entirely. He brings up in too many interviews about trying to bring in an All Star type player. Whether he does is another question.
interesting trade and all... but when is the last time you saw a 10 player trade in the NBA, especially between two teams?
I hear you, but you could really just narrow it down to: McGrady, Battier for Martin, Nocioni, Udrih I just figured if Sacramento were to do that trade, they'd have no depth whatsoever. They don't have much depth to begin with, and they'd be trading 3 players who get substantial minutes for 1 starter and a guy who won't play until 2010. I could see Sacramento maybe wanting to turn Kenny Thomas's expiring contract into 3 or 4 smaller expiring contracts, just to fill out the roster. Even if they're 3 or 4 scrubs, well they're still probably each going to contribute more than Thomas. And besides, who doesn't want to see Kenny Thomas in a Rockets uniform one last time?
Probably, trading Brian Cook and Brent Barry for future draft picks and cash considerations just to create roster space, and waive James White. Then sign Scola and Brooks to a contract extention to lock them up in the 2010 FA bonanza. I think the major move will all depend on T-Mac's comeback, so don't expect much from T-Mac, if he will not be traded to a Championship contender like Boston or Cleveland in the East, I guess he will be the same ol' limping star during the season just to avoid the trade deadlines and finish his contract in Houston.
To be technically correct, Morey did not say he was making a move, he said he is making a "MEDIUM" announcement on Twitter this week. Maybe Brent Barry is retiring? DD
