695 minutes played so far. Spoiler 5 Not more than 1 in a game this year so far. One more 0, and he'll tie his season record of 9 games in a row without an assist. 0.1 APG or 1 every 140 minutes played. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=4257 I know what you're saying, "but he's only 19yrs and a PF." By comparison, Jordan Hill had 20 assists in 620 minutes last year. I wonder what the record is for least assists in 1000 minutes played?
yinka went a whole season of 626 minutes with no assists. technically he went 2 seasons without an assist but he only played 3 minutes his 1st season. then he played another 128 minutes with no assist before finally getting one in a game where he played 12 minutes. so somewhere between 757 and 769 minutes without an assist. then he got his 2nd only 2 games later.
Havent' seen him play much, but considering he was suppose to be a finisher type, like an amar'e, i'm not that surprised. You kind of want him to get the ball going to the rim and finish or get fouled, rather than passing out. Amar'e has averaged 1 asst before and currently is at 1.4 for his career.
It doesn't matter in the sense that you want your 4 racking up big assist numbers, but it is very telling when they're this low. Telling of what? I'm not entirely sure. It could be that he doesn't command the double team via the other team's game planning, so there's not much need for him to pass out. It could be that his teammates suck at hitting mid- to long-range jumpers, which is what most PF assists would end up in. It could also mean that they don't do much off-ball movement in Sacramento, so he doesn't have the cutters moving to the basket as an option. Most likely though, it means that he's a selfish ballhogger who thinks he's better than he actually is.
Really, I'm just curious. I posted this in hopes someone could tell me the single-season record for least assists in over 1,000 minutes, or however you calculate a min requirement, if there even is such a stat. Favors could be headed for a record of some sort. In no way passing judgment on Favors, since I haven't seen him play,,,just for argument's sake, I suppose I could say that defenses will force good PFs to pass the ball back out on occassion, forcing the ball out of their hands, making it nearly impossible to have only 0.1 apg. Guys with 0.1 apg probably aren't good enough to post up...which Jordan Hill's 20 assists on 620 minutes last year also indicates.
Link here Danny Fortson is your man. In 04-05, he played 1047 minutes and recorded 8 assists. Serge Ibaka has broke 1,000 minutes last year and this year seasons, and has recorded a whopping 10 assists each year. For the assist per game version, click here. Manute Bol takes the crown for lowest assist rate while receiving over 1,000 minutes. In 86-87, he logged 1552 minutes and record 11 assists. Finally, relaxing the restriction to 500 minutes played, Derrick Favors has the 3rd lowest assist rate of all time. Just behind Dare and Bol. Edit: durvasa wins.
Awesome, I didn't know there was a Query page!! Click here to sort by Assists per Game So, Favors will be only the 5th player to join the 0.1 club in NBA history. He's currently close to breaking Manute Bol minutes per assist record of one every 141 minutes. Favors is at 139. I guess we could have guessed Manute Bol holds the lowest assists per minutes played, for over 1,000 minutes. Danny Fortson makes complete sense, too. Haha on Serge Ibaka joining the 0.1 club, last year, too.
Uh-oh. The Steve Nash effect is producing another candidate for the 0.1 club. Robin Lopez is at 3 assists in 419 minutes. Only two in the last month since coming back from his injury. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=3447 Can he make it to 1,000 minutes?
