I brought GTA San Andreas for my PS2 when it came out and to be honest, I'd never taken much notice of the series up untill that point. What the hell was I thinking! I loved San Andreas, one of the best game Ive ever played. Anyway its been a couple of months since I finished SA and Im thinking of buying the Double Pack for the X-Box. One question though: Will I be dissapointed? Having played SA, will Vice City in particular be a let down or does it stand up as a great game in its own right? Also whats GTA3 like? Getting GTA3 would just be a bonus so Im not to worried about that, more Vice City. Anyway any opinions would be apriciated.
I haven't played SA, but have gotten plenty of time in with the first 2. So, I can't comment much on what SA has that those two don't. GTA3 and VC are great games that kept millions satisfied for long amounts of time. They have lots of things you can do, so you should be able to enjoy them. So you can't customize your player's attributes and participate in gang wars, there's plenty of things to do besides that.
I haven't played GTA 3, but Vice City will NOT be a let down. The story isn't as good, but it's definitely just as fun. I think the environment is more fun in VC because it's the 80s. Lots of neon, and cheesy radio, and what not. It's definitely worth buying.
I have all the GTAs. With the first two games, even though RockStar didn't focus on graphics I was simply amazed at the freedom allowed. I've never played GTA3 (I just got it), but Vice City is just killer. Especially when you've advanced enough to find all the hidden weapons and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 rounds for your RPG....unlimited cash, unlimited ammo....amazing, ground-breaking game. Appreciate it for what it is and don't compare it to GTA:SA.
Vice City was like 2 areas of San Andreas. It's a great game for its time, but it's 1/3 as long as the newer version, which may be a good thing for some.
