The Rocket Guy says the Rockets are talking about a deal with the Grizzlies. I would love to get Battier, anyone know if this has any truth to it?

He would not be for the #1 becouse we would get the #4 in return. Plus Battier is better than most people in this years draft, and he plays defense something we need. Don't forget he is a winner with alot of heart.

We take Amare Stoudemire with the #4

There goes his credibility. But seriously Battier to move down 3 spots? He'd be the ideal 6th man at SF/PF. That's all he is. It would be overkill to trade down for a SF while getting a SF in the trade. If the Rockets trade down it should include a good C.

I'd do that, but TheRocketGuy's not known for his accuracy. And why in the world would anyone rather have Battier than Gasol???

Becouse Battier plays defense, Gasol doesn't. I would take Gasol over Battiers though, hell I would take Gasol for Ming.

HOw could this be? I thought that after the lottery Jerry West was saying that Yao was worth the 7th pick at best and a great risk. Could Jerry have just been trying to fool us? Could other gms be doing th esame thing?:(

This is exactly true. Besides Ming, there's not really any other centers in the draft worth taking, and the center position is one of the two biggest needs. If the Rockets trade the #1 pick they need to come out with a definite starting small forward and at the very least a FUTURE starting center to replace Kelvin Cato. This is why I don't like the idea of acquring a small forward and a lottery pick. Because the only other players work taking with that lottery pick are small forwards or power forwards. We already have a couple power forwards, and we would already have gotten a small forward in the trade. The only way I say the Rockets should make the trade is if they get a starting center AND a lottery pick to use on a small forward. And tell me how many offers have come in that include a good, NBA center?

I doubt if they would trade battier already, plus i don't won't to contribute to a team that kicked our ass by 20 already last yr. Lets say mythically the do offer battier for the number and take Ming, not williams, would you as a rocket fan want to see a frontline of Ming,Gasol, and Wright with williams and Dickerson on the backcourt or Eddie Jones and and Williams after Swift and Dickerson are traded? I don't think that would beto good on the Rockets. One thing that most gm's kind of live by is don't make your rival stronger. The Rockets shouldn't trade with anyone in the west unless its just a one sided trade in their favor.

The way I see it is, if the Rockets want a good center, they will have to bundle the 1st and 15th plus fillers for the C, fillers and a lottery pick. The thing is, do any lottery teams have good Cs? Most good Cs will lead their team to the playoffs no matter what. The point of a trade for a C would be to get an already established one. Why pass up on a project for another project? It wouldn't make sense.

Pau and the #4 for our number 1? I do that trade in a heartbeat. No way that I think Jerry West would do that though.

Pau has a great post game and at 7'1" he can play the 5 spot. Imagine him and Eddie on the defensive end throwing nightly block parties.

We could then take our #4 pick and take the best SF in the left in the draft.

    Pau Gasol (7'1") 2+ blocks a game
Eddie Griffin 2+ blocks a game
#4 draft pick (Butler, Dunleavy, Jefferies?) or trade for Odom and pick
    Cat
    Steve

I know Gasol only weighed in at about 227 last year but he is still very young and is probably up over 235 by now. Regardless of his weight he still has a great post game and would require double teams almost every night.

Yea, I would love to get Gasol. What if we gave Memphis our #1 draft pick and and some crap player (Dan Langhi?) for Pau Gasol and the #4. Then trade the #4 and Glen Rice to LA for Odom and #8 or #12. How does that sound?

    5-Cato
    4-Tayler\Griffin
    3. Gasol\Grffin\Odom
    2. Mobley\Odom
    1. Franics

I would say that team makes to Playoffs.

The link at the top of this topic say that they are. I don't know if it is true, but Gasol and Odom is better than Ming and at best Jeffries.

Pau Gasol is not going to be traded. The Wizards and Clippers had their chances last year. I personally thought he should have went #1 overall.

Right when I saw that third video I knew he was going to be great.

Memphis trading up to #1 is just silly ... First of all Memphis cant give up someone like Battier for just trading up 3 positions in a draft without a clearcut #1 ... There have been no reports suggesting that West want Ming. As far as i know he has just said that Ming will be a top 7 pick this year. What he however has said is that its very important that the player we draft can contribute from day 1, which Ming most likely won't do ... He also likes White Chocolate a lot so there should be no interest in Jay Williams either ... Thus trading up to #1 is overkill since we would pick Dunleavy or Butler anyway ...

As for trading Gasol ... ... its just not going to happen ...
