    Grizzlies shopping Gooden
The Oakland Tribune reports the Grizzlies are unhappy with Drew Gooden and are looking to deal him away before the Feb. 20 trade deadline. According to the Tribune, Memphis has grown tired of his "lack of defensive intensity, quick trigger on the offensive end and his propensity for pouting about playing time." (updated Jan. 30)

Would it be possible for the Rocks to get Gooden? Gooden had a very good workout for the Rockets during the summer... I think Gooden would work well with how the Rockets play, Gooden can come off the bench and get some quick scores or he can start at SF or PF. He is very quick and can score at will... his defense ain't very good, but he can rebound well.

Gooden/Swift/Brevin Knight for Cato/Nachbar/Mooch to start? Maybe a 2004 Houston 1st round restricted pick added to the deal and/or 2nd rounder.

    C- Yao/Swift
    PF - Griffin/Taylor/Swift
    SF - Gooden/Posey/Morris
    SG - Mobley/Posey/Morris
    PG - Francis/Knight

This lineup would be greatness for years to come.

Whoa...this is interesting. Why would they give up on him? I know he has declined since his great start in the season. But I think the Grizz should of given him more time just like they gave Gasol.

Rich and Charlie were talking about this Friday afternoon on 610. The key question is, would you rather have Gooden's offense and intangibles, or Griffin's potential offense and defense, because that is what Memphis needs. A defensive presence in the middle and I think they would ask for Griffin if the Rockets were interested. Gooden and Gasol are almost the same so they are obiviously going to keep Gasol.

Last thing we need is another dumb player....and judging from Gooden's interviews, he makes Mobley sound like Aristotle.

Does this team need another offense first player on the team. I wouldn't do the deal because of the exact reason memphis is looking to dump him.

Gooden or Gasol, the story has been for about 5-6 weeks, will go in a pkg including Williams or Dickerson and Wright. To absorb the Base Year of Wms or Dick will require a very large deal. From Rox perspective Cato and Rice and Mooch, at least. Sounds much too much a reach 'in-season'. But, I would love to see Pau in Rox' pj's!

gooden for griffin....would have to think hard about it. From what I have seen against us, Gooden is hardnosed, good rebounder, excellent hands, can score on the inside and does not need the perimeter to get his game going. I like Eddie's D, but Gooden gives you a legitimate inside threat with nice touch...I would consider it for sure...depending on the overall deal.

They are not giving up Gasol. Gooden is good, he's no Gasol.

That's what we need, a non-defensive player who pouts about playing time. Eggie will be a great player for this team.

Why would we want Gooden if he has the lack for defense and the QUICK TRIGGER on the offense... and if he is pouting for minutes.. where could the minutes be for Mo-T. Forget Gooden, WE DONT NEED HIM. :) I like Eddie way much better!

You COMPLETELY said what I was thinking. I cannot believe that people will constantly complain about our apparent lack of discipline but would fall over themselves backwards to acquire a head case.

Yes, but ... would you look to deal with the Grizz if Pau were the gold instead of Drew Deaden?

I'm not talking about Gasol. I'm talking about Gooden.

Nobody is trading Pau unless Yao or Franchise was involved. They are shopping Gooden and he does not fit our needs. Brand on the hand.:D

All I can say is Gooden is a bigger blackhole than Kenny Thomas. His complaint for playing time shows he is kind of selfish.Could be a chemistry killer.

I love it. This is absolutely priceless.

    It was amusing to see:

...coupled with the following conclusion by the poster:

Why would we want someone with the aforementioned traits?

Perfect fit for Clippers. Hmmm... Kandi for Gooden? Clipps won't want Dick or Jdub's contracts.

Kandi cannot be traded before the end of the season, and whether or not they'd do a sign n trade is questionable, anyway.

They should foam at the thought of getting Cato. They should. They should. But yet another, a third, rook '4'? I shant think so.

SG Shane Battier (8.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.2 apg in 28.9 minutes)

Change in team outlook: -4.6 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and +3.3 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

I think this would be great I know its trade idea 1001 but I heard the rummor about griffen and with gooden being shopped around and the clips wanting to move their big talent I thought this might be a possibility and if I were the rockets I would do it in a heart beat

(edit) P.S. it also works is shane battier goes to houston and swift goes to Clips (would be better for rockets that way I think)
