    Heres the link
<A HREF="http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/rumors/index.shtmlk>http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/rumors/index.shtmlreally official, but I was wondering about the effect this might have on possible dealings. We have lot's of draft picks and what better way for a team to start over than with lot's of picks and cap space. I know this is a tired *ss topic, but this definitely changes things. Who would have thought this could happen this soon.

Maybe we can get them to move down here...they can play in the Compaq center...As a two team city, they'd sorta be like our very own Clippers or something...

If they are gonna move, I lobby for New Orleans. That would be a real rivalry. If they move to Nashville, we are likely looking at some re-alignment because of where they will be located. St. Louis would be fine too.

I'd hate to see them leave Vancouver, but it looks like it will happen.

    why thank you [IMG]

The Grizzlies moving to Houston? [IMG] We cant even get enough people to watch the Rockets, Grizz would attract like 7 people to the games. Maybe if they combined the two teams.....

My point with this thread was that any company trying to find a buyer and a new city needs to trim the fat. We all know that Shareef has been demanding a trade. We are one of only a couple of teams that has the ability to pull it off. We have multiple picks as well as some usable players(Cato & Walt). Vancouver needs to get rid of Reeves and SAR by the deadline. No city wants to start a new relatinship with disgruntled or underachieving players. This is our chance to get him and we should do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Smokey, the Grizz can't move to Austin because they don't sell alcohol at the Erwin Center. We would all heve to get pretty loaded to watch that sorry *ss team play on a regular basis. However I can think of about 4 games a year that I'd pay to see.

I would love to have an NBA team here in Austin, but are we a big enough market ? Also, would that make our traffic worse, lol ?

Austin is definitely first and formost a college town, and a college football town at that. Heck, the city didn't even get the Astros minor league team when it moved! (went to Round Rock instead) The Horns' basketball squad has had some attendance problems in the past, too.

Another problem is that the Spurs are so close (an hours' drive or so). San Antonio would probably claim some sort of territorial infringement if a team moved to the area - similar to the constant fights that Baltimore/DC have over team relocation, but maybe even moreso.

I really feel bad for Vancouver.

No one desserves to have its franchise taken away from them. I hope they find a buyer to keep the team in Vancouver.

    by the way, WRONG FORUM!

I didn't really like how the whole Francis/Grizzlies thing went down, but...

Who can blame him? Look at happened, I don't think I would have wanted to play there either.

Geez, I feel bad for those that did care about the Grizz...

I can't believe that Austin has no interest in acquiring a pro sports team. Nashville and Columbus have left us in the dirt. I'd be happy to have the Grizzlies in town. I guess no amount of $$$ would convince the Erwin Center to change their policy for 2-3 years till a new arena could be built. Some politician needs to get working on this idea. Just think, 4 NBA teams in Texas, 4 new arenas. Forget the light rail...

Best of all, the Rockets would come to town twice, and no more damn Spurs on Fox SW. Yeah, Grizzlies suck now but I'd rather have them then no NBA.
