thank you it makes sense now. i didn't know their were those rules. didn't mo play summer league last season as a way to get in shape. i could be wrong
where is YAO, is he injured, why is he not playing summer league. sounds like a trade is coming gimme a break
No break for you. You give the guy a break. He didnt' know that Griffin couldn't play. O no not that...no way
Pardon my ignorance, but can someone tell me what the rules of eligibility are for summer league. Reason why I am asking is that isn't Kwame Brown (same draft class as Griffin) playing in his third summer league (which can't be a good sign for him). Do different summer leagues have different rules? That would sound a bit odd. Thanks in advance for any clarification.
and ketchup and mayo. mo was blazing it up waiting for the season, and he has never been in shape. summer league is for first and second year players. And free agents looking to make a team.
Thanks for the info. I guess I would have liked to see Griffin work out a bit more in summer league like Kwame, but I guess we have to wait until preseason starts.
Maybe so, but I still can't figure out what rule it is that made EG ineligible this year. It's got nothing to do with the amount of NBA experience, because guys like Penny Hardaway, Tracy Murray, Lamond Murray, Wang Zhi Zhi, etc. all played in the spl this year. It's got nothing to do with number of NBA-level players on the team, because this year's Rox spl team had only Nachbar and Maddox. Maybe there's a rule about playing more than two consecutive years or something.
There is no such limitation against anyone playing in the summer league. It's by his own - or more likely, the team's - doing that he's not playing. I'm not sure how that keeps getting around. SPL entry reqs: http://www.summerproleague.com/wanna_play.htm
I totally agree. Many older players under contract play in all types of summer leagues. If there is an excuse for Griff, I want to hear it explicitly and convincingly stated. I think we have to quit making excuses if he doesn't kick ass out of the gates this year.
I don't think there are any eligibility rules preventing Griffin from playing. The Rockets use the summer league to evaluate potential players. They already know that Griffin is on the team, so they are using the roster spots to look at other players.
Ask the Rockets that. Some teams hold back their better young players to allow the others to develop and to see if there are any others who can make the team. I imagine the Rockets are doing the same with Nachbar.
