    The two newest Rockets, Eddie Griffin and Terence Morris, were in town today for a press conference to meet the Houston media. The following are some excerpts from today's press conference:

    RUDY TOMJANOVICH

    "I couldn't be more pleased and thrilled. I woke up on Thursday morning hoping it wasn't a dream because this is a dream draft for us. We thought there was no way in the world that Eddie Griffin could be a part of our team when we did the evaluations. Our staff did a poll if we had the No. 1 pick and the guy that came out on top was Eddie Griffin. It is just amazing. The reaction from our players was that it was a miracle. On Thursday morning, I was it wasn't Groundhog Day and we had to do it again.

    "Terence is a young man that I've watched for a long time. A couple of years ago we thought there was a chance he might come out (in the draft). He was a guy that I thought fit our system, that could space the floor and had a versatile game. He was part of our three-draft choice plan and after making this trade (for Griffin) there was no way to get him. But Carroll Dawson did a fantastic job of working those phones and we feel the draft pick we gave up to get him was well worth it. I couldn't be happier. I'd like to welcome Eddie and Terence top Houston - your newest Houston Rockets."

    EDDIE GRIFFIN

    "I'm just excited about getting drafted to Houston. I'm just looking forward to coming out here and fitting in with this team. I've watched them over the years and this is just a dream come true to be playing in the NBA for the Houston Rockets and I'm looking forward to it.

    When I heard about the trade to Houston I was real excited because they are on the verge of being a great team and I was just happy about getting to play with Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis. Coming out of high school everybody compared me to Terence Morris and I'm looking forward to coming in here and working with him. I can learn a lot of things from him because he's an experienced player."

    TERENCE MORRIS

    "It feels really great to be in the situation that I'm in now. Especially being reunited with Steve (Francis). I played with him in college and now I have the chance to play with him again. I think the style that we play, young and athletic and getting up and down the court is something I can take control of and blend in with this team really well.

    Steve was pretty happy. With me playing with him next year, we had so many good times together. I think I played my best year with Steve. We talked after the draft and we're pretty happy about it. We're just looking forward to playing with each other again and getting out there on the court."

    This is as good a thread as any to post this sentiment (Well Cat, maybe it's slightly better than the others [​IMG] ) but...


    I can't ****ing wait to see this team out on the floor. When does pre-season start, baby. I can't ****ing wait!!!!

    That's funny about Eddie mentioning the comparisons with him and Morris. I was thinking along the same lines watching him throughout the season. 6'9", skinny, long forwards that can shoot it from the outside, block shots, and run the floor. They both have the same level of athleticism. They're pretty athletic, but not real explosive. Granted Griffin is a lot more gifted in terms of shotblocking and rebounding with a little more talent in the post.

    Pole its gonna be awhile but they will have a good Rocky Mountain Reveue team. With guys like Collier, Langhi, Griffin and Morris all they need to add for that Revue will be any guards to pass the ball to the post and wing....
    Great pick up for the Rockets!!!

    No way anyone could have scripted a better draft for Houston...
    Even with all the talented HS players we have a guy that will help next season at either F position.....

    I think poles emotions run through all of us.

    You know,I typed in Eddie Griifins name in a search engine last night. Well, one college writer, after watching Eddie play against his home team, had a classic opinion on Eddie Griiffin. He said: "This guy does not belong in college basketball!!" I think that pretty much sums up how lucky we got.

    The Rocky Mountain Revue will be July 20-28.

    ESPN will broadcast 4 of the games. Two of them will be on July 24 and another two on July 26.
