Contrary to what some of you are saying, about Griffin not being tall enough and not strong enough to play 4 spot, I think the guy can be one of the best. If you looked at the game, I believe the guy may even be 6'10" and still growing at the age of 19. He reminds me alot of Duncan in the way that he makes the game look so effortless. I absolutely love the way that he tries to block every shot attempt that comes his way. He practicaly altered the majority of the Jazz players shots because they knew Griffin would be lurking around the basket. I feel if the Rockets use him at the 3 then they will take away his effectiveness on the defensive end.

As for not being strong enough and not having the bulk, come on, look at Garnett, Wallace, etc.... Out of all the positions in the NBA, the power forward position has changed the most in terms of physique. It used to be where you had to be stocky and a bruiser, but now they're more athletic, lean, and basically guards in taller bodies. I can now see why we gave up on Webber the minute we got Griffin. Not saying that Griffin is as good as Webber but that position was no longer a major concern. This is just my stance on Griffin.

I believe Griffin will be a better 4 than CWebb when it's all said and done.

He is most assuradely a 4.

I think you can hide the lack of body mass with a quick double team.

He will bulk up, I just hope people don't expect to much from him early on this year.

Nobody ever said he wasn't tall enough. The guy doesn't have the weight to last an entire NBA season at the 4, especially in the West, until he bulks up. Playing him at the 4 regularly next year is sending him out to the wolves to get slaughtered.

i guess mo and kt will get 10 minutes a game each then.

better yet, give mo 20 minutes a game and have kt waste away on the ir.

    Crisco,

Mo T will start, Griffin and KT will back him up, and all of them will probably pay 3,4,5 at some point.

In fact, I would not be shocked to see KT shipped out, we don't really need him now, and he could grow more on another team.

Actually Garnett is at SF, he wasn't heavy enough to play PF regularly so the Wolves used guys like Joe Smith and LaPhonso Ellis there. As for Rasheed, not only is Sheed heavier then Griffin, his body is far and away more NBA ready then Griffin's. If Griffin is having trouble against he big men in the Summer League's, the West will dine on him next year.

Also, I like the way he runs the floor. Maybe now we may have someone who can cover Mobley's man once he gets beat [IMG]

    we'll see dadams.

i think Griff has enough versatility to play sf or pf, and Rudy will play him as much as possible, meaning he starts at sf.

Do you believe that Crisco? I'm sure Griffin will get several minutes at the 3, but as soon as he gains mass, I see him backing up Mo Taylor. I later see him replacing Mo Taylor (as long as Mo's contract isn't financially debilitating). Hell, I wouldn't be too suprised if Griffin was playing minutes at the 5 within 3 years.

What confuses me is body development. Is it harmful for the Rockets to shape Griffin into a lean three this year? If I were Griffin's trainer, I'd let his body acquire mass. If his body prohibits him from being an effective 3, so be it. Just see where his training takes him.

BTW, his cousin told me his knees have been sore lately. Let's hope that the pain's just from growing pains.

    yes i believe that HEB.

hes not going to gain 30 lbs of mass overnight and become a dominating pf.

Bah - Let me get this strait. You want to have Dream, Cato, Collier, Mo, and Griffin as your big men. What conference do you think the Rockets play in?

Collier is still hurt, Dream won't make it to 50 games. That leaves Cato, Mo, and a 19 year old as our inside presence. Thats a good idea. [IMG]

Griffin is definitely more suited for the 4 but I think he will still play in lineups with Mo T. Griffin will be the 4 in the offense but will still guard the opposing 3.

The Rockets should try and trade KT for a draft pick allowing Griffin to backup Mo and also freeing up some extra money to sign Olajuwon.

I think you guys are expecting waaaay too much of Griffin this year.

He is not as sharp a rookie as Sam Cassell. I also don't think he will be an improvement this year over Shandon Anderson.

Eddie is going to have a real difficult time scoring against NBA players. I think his real coming out year will be his third in the NBA.

Let me get this straight, you'd rather keep the exact few inside players (Dream, Collier, KT, Cato, and Mo) while keeping Griffin at the three (where you have Shandon, Walt, Bullard, Langhi) and you think that makes us BETTER against the inside players in the West? Errr.... that's a really good idea.

I totally agree with you guys. I didn't have cable for today's game (thanks everyone for recaping his play) but from what I have seen from the summer league eddie is a PF with a SF body. In my opinion he's 6'10 but weather or not he's going to get taller I'm not sure but I'm hoping. He's got the body to bulk up, he's doesn't have a small frame he's just thin.

I think if he gets the ball he will either dribble it and post up, shoot it without dribbling, or pass it. In other words he doesn't create a shot like most SFs. Thats why I think of him more as a 4, and that's why I think he's going to complement Mo perfect.

I'm really excited about him though I won't be expecting much from him his rookie season since he really needs time to develop. I just hope he gets many mins this coming season at any position. By the way does anyone know how many rebs and blocks he had? Thanks in advance [IMG]

We need big men, but not 19 year old boys. Don't we already have a soft PF?
