the Knicks still have a hankering for Sixers' Keith Van Horn, whom they tried to obtain at the trading deadline. Other "bigs" the Knicks have had recent talks about are Houston's Eddie Griffin, Dallas' Raef LaFrentz and Shawn Bradley, Portland's Dale Davis, Memphis' Stromile Swift and Lorenzen Wright and Chicago's Marcus Fizer. http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/37035.htm This in an article on Knicks trading Spreewell. Obviously more players are needed to make cap work.
With our luck we trade Griffin and he turns into a 20ppg 10reb player and comes back to hurt us everytime we play him.
I would not trade Griffin for Sprewell. Don't sell Griffin short. I would not part with Griffin unless I got someone like an Elton Brand. I wouldn't part with Griffin for Eric Snow, or Latrell Sprewell. Perhaps for Allan Houston IF his contract was not so much of an albatross. I don't mind moving Griffin (packaged with someone else), but ONLY if we get a quality person back in return ala Elton Brand.
but even so, it doesn't say anything about Spree for Griff. If Layden's involved I expect something like: Othella + Ward + a future lotto protected 2nd rounder for Griff and that Nachbar guy.
This is why the Rockets should keep Griffin. The guy still has tremendous upside. Many teams who want to trade with the Rockets always want Griffin in return. Many here are down on him now. The guy needs this upcoming season to hopefully breakthrough. Maybe EG is a late bloomer. It took Jermaine O'Neal longer than average to develop. The last thing I want to see is Eddie become a good player ojn another team.
Jermaine only played about 12 minutes per game in Portland because of Brian Grant and Rasheed Wallace. When he was traded to Indiana he started to play more than 30 mins per game and blossomed. Eddie has played about 25 mins per game for us these past two years and has only shown flashes.
Eddie Griffin is never going to score alot, that has never been his strenths. When he was in college he was a monster on the boards and at blocking shots. He did score like 17 ppg, but he shot a bad FG%. Griffin could put up numbers like this, 14ppg, 10rpg, and 4bpg.
Giff to New York - ESPN Insider Don't know if this has been posted, but I got it off of ESPN Insider. Looks like a trade with Griffin is bound to happen sometime soon. I wouldn't mind it if we got someone good, but I still like havin Griff around.
Wouldn't it be nice to know what the Rox braintrust really thinks of Griff? If they are sold on him it would take a terrific deal to pry him away. If they are not then he is gone like yesterday's fishwrap. But, just where are they on EG? I don't know where I am on him and I certainly don't know what CD and JVG think about EG.
