AP: Griffin Arrested for Curfew Violations http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1725430 Associated Press HOUSTON -- New Jersey Nets forward Eddie Griffin was back in a Houston jail Monday, this time held without bond, after prosecutors said he violated conditions of his bail stemming from a prior assault charge. A hearing was set for Tuesday over alleged curfew violations by Griffin, who was released by the Rockets earlier this season. State District Judge Mike Anderson revoked his bond at a court hearing Monday. "He has violated the curfew several times and some violations are more serious than others," Jane Waters, an assistant district attorney for Harris County, told The Associated Press. Under his bond rules, Griffin must abide by a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew unless he must work. Another prosecutor, Jennifer L. Devine, said in an interview with television station KRIV that her office had specific information that Griffin, 21, was involved in an altercation in the pre-dawn hours of Dec. 23. Griffin's attorney, Rusty Hardin, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment. Griffin signed with the Nets in January, then requested a leave last week so he could undergo six weeks of treatment for alcohol abuse, according to Hardin. He was set to check into the Betty Ford Center in California on Wednesday. The 6-foot-10, 232-pound Griffin is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 13 for a mar1juana possession conviction. He was charged in November with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a woman accused him of hitting her three times in the face and shooting at her as she drove away from his home Oct. 25.
It would be funny if someone could superimposed Eddie in the washing machine and mar1juana and beat up girlfriends looming above.
It's pretty funny to think that only 5 months ago, people here thought that Eddie Griffin was a star in the making, and thought that we could ask for a King's Ransom if we did trade Eddie. At most, we would have been able to get bail money for him. I hope he stays in jail, after all the problems he has created recently. Society does not need bad eggs like him roaming around. What's scary to think is the fact that Eddie was on those "Be Part of Something Big" commercials last year where he visited elmentary schools. I wouldn't want that guy within 10 miles of a child anymore.
Look on the bright side......at least they are refer-ing (pun intended) to him as a New Jersey Net now....
I wonder if these violations coincide at all with why his family was trying to rush him into Betty Ford. Anyone else read about how they wanted him out of Houston because "bad men" were looking for him? Evan
Screw Eddie Griffin. I don't know why people here still cares about him. After the Rockets gave as much support as you can expect from a tea, he f*cked us over. I hope he rots in whatever jail cell they throw him in.
It reminds me of the huge snowball from the movie Willow that keeps getting bigger and bigger. I can't figure out why.
I CONCUR. Which one is the bigger worry: Rockets losing streak or Eddie Griffin in the headline for the wrong reason? People should get over it with ASAP : EG doesn't give **** about Rockets !
The Eddie Griffin story is an compelling study of human nature. It has all the elements of popular lterature: money, fame, violence, self-destruction and the hope for redemption. I will watch with great interest. Maybe they will put Don Cheadle on stilts for the TV movie.
