Wish just once a sideline reporter in the upcoming series will not even ask a question just make a statement.... "Hey coach. I know you don't like fielding obvious or stupid questions. So, I'll just make an observation. It's halftime and the Rockets are up by 7. Take that for data." Then just look at him.
Pop is a jerk. The reporter only asked if he had any memories of the last playoff series between the two teams, not if he watched film and game planned accordingly. Good coach, terrible person.
He hit it right on the head when talking about drawing fouls. Can't go for it too much because it turns in to a a bad shot if the official doesn't want to call it. It drives me nuts when James just looks for the foul and jacks up a horrible shot. He is basically giving the ball away.
Pop is Pop he will give long winded interviews when the Spurs win but will given snarky answers when the Spurs lose a game. Same old same old.
Well I will give him his credit. He is like a contentious old man. At first you are like ...let it pass he's old. But after a while you are like "SHUT UP!!!!" And Pop has been around for a LONG time. I still recall his first season (96-97)... where he tanked for the #1 pick to get Duncan, with no less than Vernon Maxwell running the point. Imagine being a fly on that wall during practice... but then he was new then, probably not as pompous as he is now.
Ya know, $5000 once weighed against years of being curt, generally curmudgeonly to the bball community, and making way more than that doesn't exactly scream awesome person. If you're gonna argue he's a great guy, maybe go with his international presence or that he's willing to speak publicly against classicism/racism. Although I respect that this is him and that he deserves the right to be so regardless of winning or losing, he could use an attitude tweak or two. He and Belichick.
