16 year old...7 feet tall. projected 1st overall in 2006, but would have been able to go 1st overall this year if he was eligible. good read: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/basketball/2004-07-19-oden_x.htm http://nbadraft.net/justaminute29.htm limited time highlight video of recent game here: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/motion/showcase/index?videos=1927343 he wants to go to college...lets see who wins this player when he chooses to be in the draft.
Saw him in a HS game just this past week. Honest truth, I think he is extremely overhyped and not ready for the NBA at all. HUGE kid, could be a star -- just not yet. Go to college Oden
nice story, but even he said he has no offensive game at all, since when did 14 ppg in college make you a #1 pick, even Kwame put up bigger numbers in high school and look at him, not sure how much the NBA will help, a year or two in college
He dosent have great offensive skills and he didnt look great in the game but everytime he got the ball their were 3-4 guys on him. During lebrons game on ESPN2 he didnt get that much defensive attention.
How could anyone pass up the guaranteed millions to go to college. In college you could blow out a knee or anything and all that money goes down the drain. It's like winning the lottery then taping the winning ticked to your car aerial and hoping it's still their in 4 years.
That's what I've always thought too. But being in a huge college basketball university, it kind of changes your outlook. College studs get just about anything they want, cars, jewelry, probably better women. They are like gods around campus, really don't even have to go to class. Add that to the fact that you're constantly improving your game, leading your team through march madness. I'm sure Oden would rather be leading his team through March Madness then sitting on the end of the Hawk's bench, waiting for his time. Obviously that was all said in regard to a basketball-first college that has a distinguished history (Duke, UNC, Kentucky, UCONN, etc). But ya, money talks.
