Love Monroe, hate his fit for our team on the offensive end, especially If we still want to push the ball and open the lane for Harden.
I feel like he's a very good post-up player who is going to get overpaid and would be a terrible fit on this team. He was crappy next to Drummond and it would be exactly the same next to Dwight.
I'm pretty sure he meant... Monroe + solid defender + Mike Brown = championship (Which I don't fully agree with btw)
No no no, he's saying we're going to use space age technology to merge Greg Monroe with a solid defender and give him Mike Brown's Xs and Os knowledge so he can adjust coverage on the fly while he's on the court.
he's like a younger Al Jefferson. his defense is bad too. With Love it is bad too but he can go out the the 3 point line. That would be huge for this team. I still would rather have Melo though. He DOES have heart and he can play stretch 4 too. Offense would be nuts.
Monroe isn't the signing that takes us past the first round let alone championship... especially with Mchale coaching.
Probably best fit on a young rebuilding team that needs a solid low post threat. The big dog in the middle for the Rockets is Dwight Howard. Monroe adds too much duplication in that respect even though his game & defensive abilities are much different than Dwight. I think Monroe is pretty much a future Al Jefferson for better or worse (worse in the fact that he will probably continue to be a "best big man" on a bad team kinda guy). Very talented low post scoring center who needs pretty good perimeter defenders around him on the other end with length and athleticism. A team like Philly or even the Lakers would be smart to give him a huge offer that Detroit can't match. Monroe staying in Detroit with extremely un-complementary players would be a huge mistake. They should have cashed out on a very great asset this past deadline. The guy is going to be a very good player, just not sure his team around him will ever go that far without the right talent at the right positions around him.
