Four consecutive double-doubles. A fantastic rebounder. Touted as being one of the best passing centers to come out since Brad Miller. Don't you think he would make a really, really nice center in Rick Adelman's offense? Patrick Patterson and Greg Monroe for the next decade holding down the 4-5?
i always thought he`d be a great fit here. he was the best passing big man in the draft, but obviously didn`t last til our pick. maybe we could get him for brooks + a future 1st but that`s a lot to give up.
You know, I would give up a hell of a lot to lock up Greg Monroe. Greg Monroe is 20. He has had 4 straight double-doubles. Patrick Patterson is 21. He is a monster! Imagine locking up two guys at that age, with that intelligence and work ethic, for the next 10-12 years... Again, I would give up a hell of a lot to pair Pat and Monroe. I would consider giving up everything, and just completely rebuilding around a young core with those two starting.
I thought he would have tried to trade up to get him instead of cousins, do you think if we took back a bad contract that Detroit would give him to us?
Oh WOW!!!! He can Pass!! WOW!! Another Brad Miller, WOW!!! Can Monroe protect the rim? Alter shots? Does he make others think twice when they are about to attack the rim? Because thats what we really need. I am guessing the answers are NO. Because he is too young, hasnt had the chance yet, blah blah blah. But does he even possess those capabilitties? Does he even have the skill sets? If so then he is worth considering. We need to forget about all this "untapped" potential and upside - just look at how J.Hill turned out. We need guys that "lives upto" their potential and upside. Guys who walk the walk instead of talking the talk.
Maybe?! Richard Hamilton and Greg Monroe for Yao Ming(Insured expiring contract) and Aaron Brooks + 2012 NY pick
Well considering the Monroe has had 4 double-doubles IN ROW - i think that's more than what Brad Miller's done in the past 2 years..
Why do you think that Morey and the Rockets management is so adament about being involved in the Carmelo Anthony trade talks?? Its not just about Melo. I believe Monroe could be one of Morey's targets outside of Melo himself. Melo is a longshot but being a bridge in the trade allows them to potentially steal away a young talent like Monroe to a team like Detroit would might part with Monroe simly to rid one of two other contracts. Three team trades are very complex and four team trade are even more complex, but with months of preparation for this trade, anything is possible when cost cutting teams like Detroit are involved.
I think Teshaun Prince might be the bad contract Morey would first be willing to pry away from them. Second being Ben Gordon. Rip Hamilton will almost certainly be part of what New Jersey will be getting for exchange of Troy Murphy's contract. Like I mentioned a second ago, Morey probably sees the Melo trade as a way to potentially get in the mix and get a player like Monroe, Favors, or Nene in the process.
I like Monroe's game, but I don't know if he has the potential to be the defensive anchor that this team needs in a young center.
I like Monroe and suspect he was probably way high up on Morey's draft board. The concerns about his defense and rebounding still exist, IMO. Maybe not so the rebounding anymore since he's slowly proving he can do that on the pro level, but he looks like kind of a softy near the basket. When you add that factor to his so-so athleticism and inability to block shots it really makes you question how much room there is to improve in that regard. That said, I would take him in a heartbeat. A high post center that can pass and create his own offense will always be appealing in a Rick Adelman offense. He won't do anything to stop the layup drill teams are currently getting at will against us but he would be a solid offensive piece for the future.
I think if we got him our team would start being legit in 3 years without adding anyone. Lowry Kmart Twill Patt Monroe. Have Hayes still on the team as our leadership. I don't know what we'd have to give up to Detroit for him though if we cant use our '11 pick. I was thinking if we took Princes salary with Hill and a pick we could get him.
I added him to my fantasy team and he's a welcome addition there. However, I have a diehard Pistons fan friend in Detroit and he says that while Monroe has a decent nose for the ball, he is soft as Charmin.
I think Patrick and Monroe are tough enough, and good enough defensively to defend the paint with the best of them. Especially when we go out and get a huge shotblocking SF (Perry Jones) to go with them.
Yeah the Pistons beat writer said the samething. Tmac has had in alot of his points. The thing is Mac has had alot of hand be it via hockey assists or not in almost the entire Pistons points since they extended his role.
He's playing on a bad team and gets a ton of playing time. Double-doubles aren't that impressive, especially when he got 40 mins of pt to get one of his double double. Most of his rebounds are defensive ones (aka gimmes) and his FG% is below average for a big man (below 50%). For the season he's only averaging 5 pts a game, not exactly eye-popping production here.
