It's a slow summer, and the next Summer game for the Rockets is tomorrow, and some of us won't know the outcome until Thursday, so here's something to hold us over. I didn't see it posted, but please lock if necessary.

It's looks like there are really haters on Greene. There's only one person that had his back. All insignificant because they are just fans, but he's only a rookie, and a talented, 1-and-done rookie too.

    Just wanted to share.

They are just upset that he didn't stay longer. Though it sounds like they didn't like him all that much anyway, so they should be glad he's gone.

You could substitute a picture of Tmac dunking and have Rocket fans caption it and get the exact same comments as SU fans are giving Donte...

"Wait, wait, wait.. you are actually allowed to be in the paint?!"

haha, I don't think that is a good sign...

Its natural for college fans to be act like this towards ex players, especially if they were one-and-done or left after their sophomore year.

Trust me, I also joined the Arizona Wildcats forums, and when Chase Budinger decided to test the waters, the posters there said some of the most r****ded, mean things to the guy just because they felt he was "abandoning" their team.

I don't think all colleges are like that. I don't remember there being a bunch of Rondo "stinks" threads on UK forums when he left after his soph year. And even when they get released to play for a team we despise (ie UNLV taking Jasper) it's just a "good luck" and let it go.

Maybe I only frequent the calm boards though.

But it's obvious that those Syracuse fans are bitter about the kid.

I think part of it has to do with the fact that Donte was hailed as their savior coming in from HS, and he has failed to deliver the goods. And his penchant for jacking up shots from the perimeter didn't help either.

Those are some really bitter fans.

I guess this is why I don't watch college ball until the NCAA tournament rolls around.

And then immediately leaving after the first year. I'd be kinda upset too, but hey, I'm happy he's with the Rockets. :)

He's a rookie plain and simple and he still hasn't proven anything. (Same for Dorsey) people on this board make it seem like these two young cats are the saviors or the future of this team.. How many times have we seen in the summer a guy bust his butt and put up more than decent numbers only to ride the pine 80% of the season.

    I currently attend Syracuse University.

I hold no grudges toward Donte, but then, I'm a bigger Rockets fan than I am a Syracuse fan so it worked out fine for me. However, before Greene even declared for the draft people here were disappointed in him. His shot selection was horrible and people just didn't feel like he was really trying to live up to his potential.

Carmelo is God around these parts, and I think people basically expected Donte to be the second coming of Carmelo. He wasn't that.

After Donte declared, I heard lots of bad mouthing. One of my T.A.'s declared before our class that Greene was making a terrible decision and would be the next Kwame Brown. I reminded him that Kwame Brown has made over 60 million dollars in his career and that I'm not sure Kwame would agree he made a bad decision.

So in short, I agree. Syracuse fans are bitter. But you know, we're used to having a great basketball team and our team just sucked last year. I think Donte is unfairly getting a lot of the blame for that, and even more for virtually ensuring that we'll suck even worse next year.

Before the draft, I heard Charlie Pallilo on AM790 (also an SU alum) knock Greene fairly hard.

    Clever people.

All complaints are about of Greene being a soft PF in Syracuse. Obviously HE IS NOT A PF, only was obligated to play here for the goods of his team. So all that comments really don't have much sense looking at the current Donte Green, a very good prospect of total small forward.

Take it as a positive sign. If they weren't still crying that he left then there might be something to it. That's why the had "'Don'te Leave" shirts printed up and had everyone wearing them (including Greene). It's just a bunch of bitter fans.

I have been one of the few to openly stick by Greene's decision. Truth be told, had he stayed at SU, his attitude would have worsened and he would have been in a Darius Rice situation - where he'd stay all 4 years and not even get drafted. He was a guaranteed lottery pick had there been no age limit last year and if in that case, had he jumped straight to the league. The one year in school hurt him because he took it easy and it showed on the court. Right now, he's playing with a chip over his shoulder. SU fans hate him not because he left early, but because he had a very disappointing season, declared for the league, and then badmouthed SU. The guy has always had a phenomenal athletic ability, and I always thought the right system in the NBA could make him a borderline All-Star. I expect him to be our starting small forward in 2-3 years and make 1 or 2 All Star appearances over the course of his career. The kid can play. The question is, when the tough gets going, can he get tough? His attitude and work ethic are my biggest question marks.
