A discussion on another thread got me thinking—what do you have to see from Green and Sengun such that you’d be comfortable giving them the max? For me, if Sengun repeats his performance from last season, I’m fine maxing him. Green, on the other hand, has to take a leap. If he could average something like 23+ ppg on, say, .57 TS% while shooting .36+ from 3, I’d be fine with giving him a rookie max.
Jalen is definitely due for a max contract after the leap he’s made. As for Sengun, he’s got to prove he can keep up that level of play for another year. Then Stone will have to decide if he wants to match his salary when he becomes a RFA.
Gonna say Old School 74 is your alt, playing the reverse psychology because you want Alp traded. Obviously no real rocket fan
LOL. Sengun barely missed the all-star game last year, Green was putrid for 70% of the games. He does look better this pre-season, but he still has a lot to prove, Sengun is way more deserving and a much better bet.
Man don't make Jalen stans look bad. Between Sengun and Jalen, Sengun absolutely deserves the max at the moment over Green. That is why consistency is so important. Sengun has shown the ability to be a borderline all-star on a consistent basis. Jalen hasn't yet. That's why the first two months of this season is so important for Jalen.
I don't get why you’d assume that, and honestly, I have no idea who Old School 69 is. Is it really a crime to share my thoughts?
Just wanted to share my thoughts on the whole situation. Jalen has really stepped up, and I think that’s worth noting. I like Sengun too, but Jalen is the one I see with that Mamba Mentality. His growth in March and what we’ve seen in the preseason should really count for something. It’s funny how people can flip after just one not-so-great game, acting like they forgot all the hard work he put in. I might sound a bit too excited, but I just feel strongly about this right now.
Completely agreee, Jalen played good basketball last March. He deserves to be the president of United States Of America.
I think Sengun probably did his earning last season. It would have to be some pretty spectacularly bad months coming up to undo that. Really just comes down to his cap hold and the way roster construction works, how unique our situation is. They want flexibility and the actual salary increase doesn’t kick in until after the season anyway. It’s just peace of mind now. Jalen still has to prove it and the way he’s shown up so far this season looks like the guy who will prove it. There’s still not much reason for the Rockets to press the issue.
I'm going to reserve judgement until the season starts and he stays consistent for 3 months at the minimum first.
I figured you were one of those Jalen advocates, and now you think I’m just a Bot for backing him? Why does that even bother people here? He’s a Rockets player, for crying out loud. Honestly, I’m just happy there are still a few fans like me willing to defend Jalen. We need all the support we can get to see the Rockets actually do something in the playoffs...and we need Jalen for that. @Mathloom @Verbal Christ @Os Trigonum @Bobbythegreat @Salvy @fchowd0311 @Dobbizzle
Sengun needs to prove he can make it through an entire season without running out of gas or being out with injury.
