This was the quote from Ronald Reagan. It was ment as a joke and not intended to be played over the air but it was leaked anyway. This is by far my favorite quote even though it was just a joke.

Does any other U.S. President have a better quote?

In all seriousness... and quote ironic coming from a president who was most noteworthy for saying very little.

Silent Cal Coolidge dropped this knowledge on us back in the 19-dubs.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”

He's also responsible for one of the best comebacks in presidential history:

A possibly apocryphal story has it that Dorothy Parker, seated next to him at a dinner, said to him, "Mr. Coolidge, I've made a bet against a fellow who said it was impossible to get more than two words out of you." His famous reply: "You lose."

Yeah? What? She was betting that it was possible to get him to say more than two words. His two word reply, "you lose", means she lost the bet. It's really not that difficult.

I like this one, too, but preferred America: The Book's reimagining of the line.

"Silent Cal: Coolidge still ranks as the quietest president of all time. Famously, a woman once approached him, saying, 'I bet my friend I could get you to say more than two words,' to which Coolidge wittily replied, 'F--- you.'"

It's always funnier when smart people do dumb things than when dumb people do dumb things.

Greatest President of the 20th Century. Here's some more of his wisdom:

"Any man who does not like dogs and want them about does not deserve to be in the White House."

"Duty is not collective; it is personal."

"Four-fifths of all our troubles would disappear, if we would only sit down and keep still."

"Industry, thrift and self-control are not sought because they create wealth, but because they create character."

"Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of face within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity."

    And from Lyndon Johnson:

"I once told Nixon that the Presidency is like being a jackass caught in a hail storm. You've got to just stand there and take it."

"I want to make a policy statement. I am unabashedly in favor of women."
