Deke really needs a fan thread, so here it is. What we lose in points with Yao out, we partly make up in D (is for Dikembe). Who in the league has a better backup center? Yao probably blocks the lane better, but Deke is better when the opponent is already inside.

Besides, he has a finger wag, a gooffy run, a gruffy Congolese accent, and a mouth that a lion could stick its head in.

I love Dikembe. He is one of my favorite players. He would be starting for most teams in the league. I think were very lucky to have him. Definitely the best backup big man in the NBA.

He says he wants to play at least two more years and I hope he plays them in Houston.

Deke just looks full of youth and energy. I don't know where we'd be without him!

Man the Rockets have been blessed with our back-up center roles. Remember when Cato was regarded as the best back-up center in the league? At least by us here at Clutchfans.

The best of all is that he loves this team and this city. He is having a good time here and we are winning. What more can you ask for?

I salute Deke. It's amazing how this 38 years old man is still performing at the highest level of basketball in the world. But it's annoying to see the idiots in the chat room who say things like "Deke rules, Yao sucks", "Deke is the man, Yao is a wimp", etc. We are blessed to have two of the best centers in the NBA on this team. Why do we have to pit our own players against one another? It's just as idiotic as the fools who keep saying "Amare scored 29 points tonight in another game" during the PBP. Why don't these fools go to the Suns chat room if you care so much about Amare's statistics?

Deke rules! A major difference maker out there. Yao has been learning a few things from him too. Great pick up for the team.

Deke has been great, he brings a higher level of defencive intensity when he's in the game. The finger wag is classic...

    GO DEKE!!!

When someone says MUTOMBO, all I can picture is him holding on to the ball after beating the SONICS who were the #1 seed back in the early nineties...

At SUNDAY's game, I noticed he didn't shake the finger... just shook his head, after blocking a shot. Are we adopting the HEAD SHAKING as a new TAUNT by the DEKEster? I like it.

DON'T BRING THAT sh*t IN HERE. We have another AFRICAN nightmare waiting for you...

I think Deke deserves an appreciation thread but isn't he from Zimbabwe?

no... Zaire (now the Republic of Congo...... i beleive)

I used to be an anti-Dikembe because of some comments he directed @ Hakeem regarding Dream's failure to donate $$$$ for Deke's hospital. Mentioned the need for Hakeem to assist his African brothers. Dream said commonality is not just geographic........ one can have more in common w/someone from China than a neighbour.

Please not all above is major paraphrasing by Daedalus
