In another thread, someone seemed upset that we here at the bbs always focus on the negative qualities of the Rockets.

So, since the offseason is so friggin' boring I thought I'd start a thread talking about what have been the Rockets strengths and proficiencies.
    • Rockets play some pretty darn good D. No, we don't have the best defense in the NBA, but I'd say we're in the top ten.
    • When our offensive plays are executed properly, they're pretty tough to beat.
    • Overall, our starters do a very good job of matching up against other, very talented competitors
    • We have proven that we can consistently beat the best teams in the NBA. With maturity, we will soon be able to consistently beat the worst teams in the NBA.
    • Our staff has an excellent eye for scouting new talent. Sometimes, when there's no good free agent and no good draft pick they have to make the best of what they have. But they have been known to find a few diamonds in the rough.
    • With size under the hoop, and agile guards, our in-out game is very good and getting even better
    • Our previous, excellent coaching staff has been upgraded to another excellent coaching staff.
    • Our youthful team is energetic and talented, and maturity will soon be an excellent contributor to our success.
    • Our owner and management is obviously committed to doing whatever it takes to win championships.
... I'm sure more will come to mind...

I have to disagree there, I was arguing about this in another thread once and the Rockets were only 5-11 vs. the WC semifinalists (and that includes 2 shaq-free games) last season. No question they should eliminate the bad losses v. bad teams, but aside from the split with Sacramento, the Rockets record vs. top teams was nothing to brag about. 1-7 vs Dallas and SA? That's embarrassing.

This was supposed to be a positive thread about happy things. Sorry though droxford, it already looks like your thread's gonna get derailed.

Well according to another thread, we got balls (although I'd prefer brains). I guess that's a good thing.

Haha funny SA Rocket, good thing you were joking though or you'd have some people on your @$$.

Great post Droxford - Spoken like a true, diehard Rocket fan, I really appreciate your post. Here's a good quality, our team plays extremely well with each other when everything is flowing because we have the best bunch of guys in the NBA (best team in the NBA). Once again, excellent post!

*Don't reply to me and tell me to get real someone, the Rockets are the best when they play their game, I know we are!

feel the love, Mikedane. Peace, dude. Hug a tree. Kiss a whale. Smell a flower. Make love with anyone and everyone you wish...

    ... no.. wait a minute...

Back to the topic: Another great thing:
    • Rockets are recognizing needs and filling the gaps - Got a big center. Got fast guards who can cut and shoot. Got a strong outside shooter. Got a strong defensive presence. Power forwards ...well.... they do an OK job.

    Here's another:
assuming Mo T. and G. Rice start; we have a starting lineup with everyone capable of a 20+ scoring game on any given night.
( I know that Glen Rice can no longer do this on a consistant basis, but when he's on..........):D

OK, lots of negativity running around...I'm often critical as well, but here goes...

With the game on the line and the clock winding down, Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Moochie Norris, Glen Rice, Mo Taylor and Yao Ming all have no fear of taking the last shot and letting the chips fall where they may. That's a lot of cajones for one team.

I think we will be able to add Piatkowski to the list at some point! ;)

Funny you should say that - I just posted in this thread that I thought Pike would be one of the top 4 scorers on our team

I can see that possibility. Especially since I think JVG will not be as tolerant as RT of 24 second clock violations. IOW, the ball will skip around the perimeter more often and much earlier. Hey. isn't ball movement another positive? :)

*the Rockets exemplify Americas great cultural melting pot by having a team with a chinese player, a african, a slovenian, and a Piakowskian. Its a great thing.

    * Lisa Malosky is the best damn pregame/halftime/post game announcer in the league and she has a nice ass.

*We have a center who can't write a sheck yet is already an allstar.
