The Astros Daily web site will not shut down!!!! Ray Kerby ( of The Astros Daily) and the Astros have worked out a compromise that is fair for both sides. http://www.astrosdaily.com/cgi-bin/forum/bbs?read=4444
ya know, not to rain on everyone's parade, but... exactly what "compromise" did they really reach? seems to me, ray is simply complying with MLB's original request, which was to remove all graphics from the site copyrighted by MLB, right?
From Ray Kerby's post: (from the link above) "Basically, I have agreed to remove graphics of actual logos that are on a few pages in the history section (already removed), but we will be allowed to keep historical photos of the players. This was my main point of contention with the terms given in the letter from MLB Properties, and I was prepared shut down the website on principle if we were not allowed to display player photos. However, the player photos must all be accredited properly and that is something I am certainly willing to do. In return, MLB has agreed to not take any legal action against me as long as I bring the photos "into compliance in a reasonable amount of time." MLBP originally said NO PHOTOS . They "compromised" and will allow the photos as long as they are accredited properly.
yeah, my bad. bob (hulsey) set me straight; i didn't think MLB's beef was that far-reaching when i first read the C&D letter. good for ray. i'll now buckle up and await the NFL's hammer. we're next, right? gotta be. cc.net? check. astros connection? check. astros daily? check...
are you kidding? i welcome it! the chronicle and espn are both doing stories on it; ray's name was mentioned last night on the astros' broadcast, and he'll likely be a talk show fixture the next few weeks. in the long run, he's cemented his relationship with the team (press passes, tickets, access to players and inside sources), and, best of all, according to bob, drayton himself invited ray to join him in his box for an upcoming game. i mean... unless another NFL kicker goes mental on me, i don't see us ever having that kind of publicity!
LOL. True. Just provide us out-of-towners (as well as those fans in Houston) with cutting edge coverage of "our" Texans, and the rest will take care of itself
I was happy to see that Ray was able to stay up. It's a good site. Ric: I just checked out your site - very professional, looks good. Glad the Texans have a first class fan site as well.
