This is a fooking awesome game! Extremely violent, yes Extremely fun, hell yes! I'm still in the first city-ish area (Portland) on the mission where you have to pick up all the bosses you've worked for and drop them off at a meeting (sounds easier than it really is, because you're ambushed by like.. 6 billion fish-delivery vans.. Damn Triads ) For those that haven't played this game, it's basically a 3D roaming game. You control this one lowlife who apparently lost all use of his vocal cords (figuritively!), working for people ranging from the owner of a Strip Club to the Grand Daddy of the Mafia. You can basically do anything. Want some cash? Steal a cop car/firetruck/cab/ambulance and do the jobs related to the vehicle and you get some cash. Need some quick cash? Beat that old lady over there with your baseball bat or smear her face all over the pavement with an uzi, and steal her cash (fricking crude, I know!) There's like.. unlimited possibilities here! All the while, you're being chased by the cops (chopper's, FBI's and even the army if you're bad enough). And you can steal ANY vehicle with wheels. That's all for my rave (FOR NOW! Buhuhahaha!). Anyone else play this game?
I'm very jealous of you right now. I have wanted that game since I knew it was going to be released. I heard you can steal boats and planes on the game as well, is that true?
I've heard you can steal a plane without wings. I'm not sure about the boat. Haven't advanced far enough in the game, I'm just sitting here causing pure mayhem.
GTA3 is crazy, Im still in the first city as well but its mostly due to NBA Live 2002's release. You will be suprised by how vulgar and over the top it is. It is a fun game though, you can tell this game will still be fun 3 years from now after you've beaten it 6 times.
Sorry to get off topic.Hows the gameplay in 2002 ? the graphics look sweet. Check out this screen from their website....
Yeah how is the gameplay in Live 2002? Last year was pretty pitiful and about the only good thing were the graphics but I believe it was rushed because of the PS2 debut.
I would get Conquest Frontier Wars, it is the best RTS game to come out in years. Get the demo and try it. DaDakota
Back to the topic at hand... Yes, you can steal boats. I'm on the second part of the city and I stole a police boat with guns. There doesn't seem to be too much to do in the water yet, but maybe a mission or two might change that. I think the deal with the plane is that you can ride it the same way you'd ride the subway or the train, you can't steal it. Anybody remember how you could hijack the train in the first GTA? I'm having a blast with it, but I also have Civ 3 distracting me, and fantasy basketball really eating up a lot of time. Sometimes I even find some time to fit work in. B
The Frontier Wars plug was lol worthy. Since you asked about Live 02, its a lot better than 2001, lots. The franchise mode is very good. The gameplay still needs work in my opinion, the offensive rebounding is not as bad as in 2001 but it is still a problem. You can box out and rebound with strong results but its frustrating when the CPU suddenly grabs 5 boards in a single possesion. The rebounding needs slight work but at least you have control over it this year. The transition game wen't from none to almost none, there are no CPU fastbreaks and when you try to break off the CPU player turns in to the Flash and cuts you off, occasionally you may see something that resembles a fastbreak. Shooting jumpers no longer results in 32% shooting, animation is more fluid, and there are lots more layups. The most important thing is that I found the game to be much funner than 2001, it leaves a lot to be desired but I enjoy it.
Question. I played GTA 1 and 2 on my PC and loved them. They were excellent methods of wasting wasting a good 20 minutes or so. (My personal favorite was to walk around with a silenced uzi, shooting every car thief -- green shirt, and pickpocket -- red shirt, that I ran into) I do not have a Playstation system (1 or 2) and have never really gotten into the game platforms when my computer can do almost as good a job and have a MUCH bigger selection of controls (particularly the use of a mouse in FPS games like the Quakes, in which it is absolutely necessary to have a mouse). But my question is this: are they going to make a GTA3 for the PC? I went online to order the game, and it seems they only have copies available for the PS2. I would be very upset if the company turned away from the PC customers, as we are the people that they built this series popularity on in the first place. Does anyone know or has heard anything about this?
Raven, I think the PC version is going to be released sometime in Spring of 2002. So the only way to play it for a while is PS2, but I have a feeling I might end up buying the PC version also for the multiplayer game. (I'm assuming they are going to have multiplayer, maybe that's why there is such a gap in release dates for the different systems.) B
Right now I'm cruising around in an Infernus right now, using them as my main wheels (pretty good car considering how common it is in Staunton Island - I cheated to get there by hopping the still incomplete bridge). I've got a Yakuza Stinger and a BF Injection in my garage, I'm looking for the elusive Yardie Lobo (I keep mistaking the Idaho for one. Damn.)
You can find screenshots of GTA3 at Gamespot.com (just search around, you'll find it), GTA3G.com and GTA3Warehouse.cjb.net (I think that's it)
OK, I finally went and bought the game for PS2 and I have completed several missions but there is one I am having trouble with, I cannot win the race that El Burro sets you up with. Anybody finish this race in 1st place yet?
