I saw an ad for the game today on TV while watching the Rockets. does this mean the game is finally on the verge of being released in the US? The game looks so damn good. I hope there are no more delays. 3/15 is what I found online for the release day.
Yeah, and up until two weeks ago it was 2/23. The delays are really getting to the customer base. Especially with the noise over the online portion...initially it was delayed to work on the online part of the game. Then, supposedly, the online portion was removed and that was the reason for the delay. (An 'Online' GT4 was going to be sold seperately) But so much noise was made about that, there's rumors now that they have put it back in....which caused yet another delay. Who knows now. It should be damn awesome...but man it's like they are trying to shoot themselves in the foot.
If the game is good it will sell, a month or two will not hurt it one bit. Better to get it right then to get it out early and have bugs. DD
That goes without saying. But they've been posting dates for something like a year now. And they keep going back and forth on features as well. There's a difference there between the approach some PC developers take (it's done when it's done - which I think is great) and trying to hype folks up when you don't even know when you'll be ready to give them the product. It's bad when I run across guys who don't know what system Halo is on or that heard that Target was selling Playstation 3s in Japan are even saying "damn, they pushed that back again?"
how many times did halo 2 get delayed? probably more than this game and that sure didn't make a difference. like dd said people are gonna buy it if its up to par with the first three.
It seems like stuff gets delayed all the time. I was looking at a little FF12 timeline the other day and it was delayed quite a bit and may even be delayed more, although I hope not. I could also have been watching FF7:AC in 2003, IIRC, although that technically isn't a game. There's probably plenty of other examples as well. As for why it was delayed, I'm sure online play was a big part of it, but after it released it Japan, it seems like the surprising inclusion of 1080i may have taken quite a while to perfect, especially since the game still runs at 60 fps. As for whether or not the online mode will make it into the US release, that's up in the air I guess. I did read that some people in Japan were already able to get some type of online mode going, so if it was that easy, maybe Polyphony can get it working. If not, I personally wouldn't mind not having it and those hardcore enough to want it will probably buy a special edition that does include it. I would assume there wouldn't be any more delays considering the Japan copy is and has been out for a while ( and it sold well if that means anything). In fact, I'm a little surprised that the Japan release and the US release are so far apart considering the game, but I don't know too much about racing games and their localization process. The only process I know a little bit about is RPG's and they take a long time considering the amount of text and voice acting in the games.
These delays are killing me. That (and MVP Baseball 2005) are the main two games I'm waiting for this season.
Uh...yeah, we're pretty much all in agreement like that. In fact, I'm pretty sure it will be good; somehow I doubt they could actually mess up such a solid franchise. So I'm not sure what your point is. They did a very bad job with the handling of the hype of this one...they weren't anywhere near as ready when they started giving out dates. It's just frustrating...and moreso than you're usual game. Especially considering it's been out in Japan for a while now. And you really can't compare Halo 2 to...well, anything really. BAMA: MVP is pretty close, I think. Only a month or two if memory serves.
well when you said "the delays are really getting to the customer base" i took it more as you thought people wouldn't be as interested in the game then what you actually meant as people just being frustrated. my bad. i had no idea it was out in japan already, that's pretty messed up. anyways i wouldn't trade my halo 2 for any game but gran turismo is one of those franchises thats sure to sell bundles and go to greatest hits or whatever you call it so i guess theyre atleast comparable.
Outstanding. As much as I enjoyed last year's version of the game, I hear this year's will have all of the Single-A teams as well. Cool!
Thanks for the link. That was bad ass. Just watched the video clips of the tracks, and looked at the list of vehicles. Just amazing.
I miss my GT3 because I lent it to someone and they didn't return it... should I just wait until GT4 comes out?
I would if money isn't a problem for you (if ya really miss the game). GT3 can be picked up for real cheap now.
Remember when somebody posted the video for MVP 05 where Beltran is wearing an Astros uni and then morphs into a Met? I wanted to punch my monitor.
