Okay so I just graduated from UH last December from Bauer College of Business, with a Business Admin. degree, focusing in MIS. I took 6 months off to go work for my father, managing his properties, overseas.

I just recently got back state's side, and realize that I don't wanna work in the tech. industry, and would rather pursue management positions. Did i just waste my whole degree away?

My loan repayments are slowly creeping up and I'm having a real hard time finding work. I religiously go through different job websites such as indeed.com etc. on a daily basis, but all companies usually ask for 2-3 years of experience off the bat, of which i don't have. What do i do??

If fast food really does start paying $15/hr. i wouldn't even mind making that my last option. lol

I didn't write this for anybody's pitty. I just needed to vent a little, and some advice :)

Thanks for hearing a bro. out!

You said you didnt want to work in the tech industry and want to look for something in management.

What kind of jobs are you applying to? IT? Information systems?

Or something unrelated to your degree, Management?

I can't help you, but maybe someone can help if you can be a little more specific?

lol what company is going to let you be a manager without 2-3 years of exp? unless you got some serious connections you will most likely be better off starting from the bottom and working your way up.

If working fast food or managing properties overseas were my only two options and I had loans to be paid imminently- I would rather manage properties overseas unless it's in some war torn country.

Go to all the energy companies and look for Business Analyst or ETRM Software Analyst roles. Otherwise go back right now and get either your MBA to do graduate internships; your MS Accounting for a CPA, your MFE (Masters in Financial Engineering) for Energy Trading or Energy Risk Analyst/Product Control roles, or start studying for CFA or Actuarial exams.

If some of your loans are federal you can consolidate and then apply for Income Based Repayment (IBR). Payments are dependent on your income and if you have none your payments will be as low as $0.

I have considered it, but then also thought of how much more debt i would get in. What i really want to do right now is work to pay off the current loans I have right now.

The 6 months of managing properties where meant to get me acquired on the processes of the family business. Since my father is still alive and kicking, i wouldn't really be doing much until.. he decides to relinquish the throne.

I've always been really Independent and that's why I came back to the States to work, and pay off these loans by myself. I kind of don't want to move countries with debt holding me back.

You just graduated from college and you think you're going to be in "management"? Try entry level roles.

do the online application stuff, but a far better way to find a job is by networking. Like talking to real people, not blasting resumes via the internet.

    ok

Hmmm. Maybe I don't have the ability to send messages since I am a noob. Try to send me a message and if not work maybe we can try to see if a Moderator will pass along my email. Goes for you 2 Manny. Try to send me a message if Katy is not too far to drive daily to work. It is a lower management entry level job though.
