I am graduating in May with a degree in Psychology and I am looking at Master programs that offer a degree in I-O Psychology. I was just curious for those who went to that field what schools did you apply to. I have noticed that each school has different courses and different content.
because its one of those careers that is going to go grow. and i dont see myself dealing with crazy people.
If you are interested in CIA work, they have some good positions available if you have a Masters in Psychology. These type of degree earners have been hard to find for the CIA.
Crazy people huh?? I don’t know if that's the best way to look at it if you plan on going into this field.. Even working with large companies and studying numbers you will still come into contact with some odd people to say the least.. Psychology in general is growing leaps in bounds every year for the past 5ish years or so and the trend doesn’t look to stop... I asked you why you would pick I&O over the other hot fields of psychology right now like clinical, counseling or going the school psychology route with the option of doing a PhD because I wanted to see if you wanted to truly help people or just after the mighty dollar.. I know you can make good money right off the bat in I&O right out of school, but you will hit the ceiling really fast.. I know a few psychologist(PhD) that work in children’s hospitals with "crazy people" (as you call them) and make in the mid six figures and on average a psychologist on contract or as a director can earn 250 an hour +.. keep in mind they don’t start of as high as a person in I&O will, but over the life of their career it's like comparing apples and oranges... Good luck in your search..
i could see myself as a school psychologist, but i dont see myself giving people therapy. I myself am really impatient. half the the time people in therapy dont want to change mostly because they think they dont have a problem, and I easily become fed up. Dealing with people who dont want to face their responsibilities and wanting others to take action for them just doesnt suit me. Being in the I-O Field one is dealing with professionals at work. improving the workplace, provide satisfaction, help recruit, and train individuals. And i want to feel good about my work and doing that will certainly do. Its not just about the money, the money will come no doubt about it. but I want a degree that can give me various options in different positions.
