Where is the best place to look, get a deal, etc? I really just need something to house my pictures and MP3's and I really don't wanna spend above $1,500. It would be nice to have a DVD burner as well............ >>>>> Not a technology guru.........
Use code 9C12FJVBKTKPV$ to save $400 off any $1,499.00+ Dell Inspiron notebook. (valid 2/23/2007 7:00:00 AM - 3/29/2007 7:00:00 AM) http://www.notebookreview.com/dellCoupon.asp If it were up to me, I'd get a Dell. Or a Apple macbook (which costs more). You could use a student's discount if you went for a apple. http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/routingpage.html
My advise is to check at Dell outlet website, sometimes very good deal out there. I bought one dual core laptop at dell outlet in UK, cost me 450£, consider everything in UK is more expansive than states.
these guys are a little pricey, but it is quality stuff. I like the Dell workstations too but you should research any of these computers by model in relation to real world usage - just to make sure there aren't any issues that might effect what you want to do. I would also consider going with XP64 instead of Vista for a while (next couple of years). Vista has some major improvements in regards to graphics and memory - but it also has some issues. http://www.alienware.com/product_pages/notebook_all_default.aspx
it sounds like you don't need that powerful of a laptop. you can get a dell laptop that will do more than you need it to do for around $800.
get a lenovo...t60 widescreen.. go to www.fatwallet.com/c/18 type in lenovo u should be able to find some deals, right now im on a vaio sz 340..awesome comp...but i think its slightly out of ur price range
Thanks guys. I found a Dell coupon and got a Inspiron E1405 Dual Core with 2GB memory, a 120GB hard drive and a DVD burner for $800. Damn warranty and taxes hit me for another $360 ...but what can ya really do about that? Thanks again.........
My Dell Inspiron died the other day. I don't have a backup computer and wasn't willing to spend more than 600. I thought I'd end up with a POS for the price I was going after... but went to Best Buy and they had this Acer 5100 with Vista Premium, 100 GB HD, 1 GB Ram, 2 GHz processor, AMD 64 laptop for only 500 bucks with a free printer. I never had a high def lcd before and so far I'm loving it. You can't beat such a deal for the price. Obviously, it's not as good as what you got, but after my last Dell, I am not spending over 600 ever again for a computer. My computer died at a perfect time!
I'll second the Lenovo suggestion. Absolutely phenomenal quality and durability and it's in your price range. I'd recommend a macbook also but those are probably out of your range and frankly isn't necessary considering you just want something to store mp3s and do basic computer functions. Dell is garbage, I worked part time at a tech support place and it was always one Dell after another. Same with Sony Viaos, not too impressed with them either.
maybe cuz there are so many Dell's out there? any ways, If your going with Intel...go with the Core 2 Duo @ 2.0 + ghz, 2 GB's of memory ar 667 mhz, 7200 RPM hard drive, and a nice graphics card. You should be able to get that w/ your budget
I just received my new laptop and it is totally sweeeet. I got a Fujitsu LifebookA6020 for $1500 exactly with a mailin rebate and 8% discount through my bro's company. Check them out: Fujitsu
Actually do you really need the extended warranty? How much is the actual warranty? If you ship the computer to a buddy in another state where they have no tax, then you can save on tax. Just pay him/her back later.
My laptop busted on me last week. And that gave me an excuse to jump over to a Mac. I got a MacBook and I just want to say it's amazing. Really badass...I haven't had the slightest problem with it slowing down or whatnot. Just takes some time to relearn how to do things, but it's worth the money.
The warranty was $270 for 3 years. Some IT dude told me to get it...I have no clue what the hell I need. All this CPU talk is foreign language to me. That's why I'm happy this is such a versatile board. Thankls again peeps..... Kinda disheartening to hear the bad reviews on here about Dell though....
