I've been watching the Rockets for over 20 years now and I don't ever remember them putting up these sort of victory margins. I did a quick count and came up with 12 twenty plus victory margins...and I know a few 4th period letups cost us even more. When this Rocket team has it going...it is a machine! If they can get in this groove for most of the playoff games, there's no reason to think they can't go all the way. That's right...NBA champs!
Check out our scoring over the last three games (by quarter): 31, 26, 30, 22, 35, 27, 25, 27, 32, 27, 34, 31 We're averaging 28.9 points per quarter over the last 3 games! Sure seems like we've kicked it up a notch.
My first post yey! Yep we're up there with the big three in point differential yet Barkley thinks the Utah is more elite than us. I've watched all the games they played and I agree we could have more blowouts if we only stayed focus on the 4th or if our scrubs didn't waste it out. But still somehow I dont really like this too many blowout this time around. there wont be any blowout in the playoffs and it would be nice to have comeback wins or last minute shots every now and then just to get used to it. But we're too focused to get that HC advantage to flirt with losses.
Barkley has turned into a huge PITA. For once, I'm glad he's picking Utah, because the only thing he has correctly predicted this season was his victory over Bavetta. So, you can pretty much take it to the bank, unless he flip flops and picks us, we should cruise into the second round against Dallas.
I haven't seen Magic Johnson on Tnt lately and I wish he's there because he's the only one that makes sense and it's fun to see barkley not being able to argue against Magic because he's more of a hall of famer than he is. One thing I've also noticed about this rockets team is they're serious and focused with their game face on. There are no clowns like Moochie or barry joking around. It's like they're on a mission. I think jvg brainwashed them already.
I am cautiously optimistic about our playoff chances this year. We all know that when we're playing our game, we can pretty much beat anybody. Kind of like Games 1 and 2 against the mavericks a couple of years ago... See my point? But yeah, I'm pretty excited anyway and I can't WAIT for the playoffs.
yep - we sure can crap on the poor teams. But have you seen us against the good ones? Dallas, Phoenix etc. Ok- so we did knock off the Spurs and the Heat, but they weren't exactly in full flight when we got them. its one thing to put away the bad teams, another to beat the upper echelon. Which, im afraid we're gonna have to do to win a title. sorry being negative again guys.
If youre not going to legitimize the wins that we've had against dallas, miami, or SA because of injuries or chemistry then you shouldnt legitmize the wins theyve had against us either. I'm sure we've had key players miss more games than any other team again this season along with LA and MIA. Also, while Dallas werent themselves when we whooped them early in the season, neither was tmac. He only found himself after Yao went out. So now is when everything needs to start clicking and we'll see that from here on out hopefully.
I know the win last night was an aberration, BUT, the Rockets are looking to be in offensive sync, more so than anytime in the season. This is good time to start peaking. Yao should be ready for the playoffs, and TMac's health has held up and his shot looks good. Roll out the balls and let's get it going.
The odd thing about the 96-97 season was, yeah, we beat teams by a large margin, but we often got thumped by 10-20+ points in games that season, too.
If anything, IMO, it would be a bad idea for us to really thump teams in the playoffs. I'm talking 20 point margins. It's only gonna get them fired up against us the next game. I'd gladly take a 4-1 series where our margin of victory is around 10 points or so.
