I wonder if anyone's won the Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar, particularly in the same year.

the sad part is. . . . there are Three reasons he did not become president
    1. They [the future president's brother] Cheated in Florida :D
    2. He IMO did not use clinton to stomp for him until it was too late
    3. he committed the most unpardonable of sins in America. . he was boring

IMHO - losing W. Virginia was far more critical than most people realize. It was a democrat stronghold that Gore took for granted, and Rove played his nasty campaign tricks over and over to steal the state for Bush. Absolutely huge triumph for the Rove machine.

Gore's last run for Senate was in 1990. He campaigned for a year during 1992 and was VP for 8 years. That's 9-10 years when he had a national focus rather than a Tennessee focus. 10 years in politics and demographics is forever... it was about that amount of time that California went from giving us Ronald Reagan to being solidly Dem. That TN drifted farther to the right during the 1990s... and drifted far enough to not vote for a native son to be a Democratic President shouldn't surprise anyone. Reagan probably wouldn't be elected in CA today, LBJ probably wouldn't be elected in TX.... hell, W probably wouldn't be elected in TX

Rush Limbaugh was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Methinks this isn't one of those awards where just being nominated is like winning.

Disagree. LBJ was a pragmatist and very adaptable. Al Gore is no LBJ. I knew LBJ (talked with him for about 20 minutes at a barbecue when he was POTUS).

The Nobel peace prize is prejudiced against people who use war to bring peace. All they care about is the short term actions and not the long term ones. It's math stupids! if you kill 100 people and 1 out of 100 is a murderer, you've prevented murder and brought peace!!!

No doubt, no doubt! He pretty much put us all to sleep in 2000.

But you know that quote was taken out of context (one of Rove's more inventive ideas) ;)

I'm just afraid you'll do someting crazy when he decides to run again.

Since there's not a thread on the IPCC Report, I'm putting this here...
