Just an embarrassing group of individuals, why is this even an issue to them in the first place?

In the words of Stephen Colbert if Republicans want to rename the Democrats to something that would create fear in the hearts of Americans, how about change Democrats name to Republicans.

I say the Dems should go for it. Democratic socialism sounds pretty good to me. 6 weeks paid vacation. Free college tuition. Pensions. Health care for all --even if you lose your job, have previous health problems or work for yourself. Less crime. They might even have a lottery, which is the best chance for most Americans to become rich. I think you can still speculate on stocks, though I doubt day trading is seen as the epitome of productive work.
On the negative side of it you can still invade foreign countries needlessly as we saw with Tony the Poodle's Labor Party. What is not to like?

On a more practical level the GOP/conservatives/Libertarians suffered two major defeats this week as gas mileage standards are to be increased and they are capping the ability of credit card companies to charge hideously high interest rates and late charges.

Too bad they already did that. They started out as the Democratic-Republicans. ;)

Dick Cheney again this week was in the hospital. He was experiencing discomfort in his leg.

And the doctor asked Cheney if he stretches.

    Cheney said

'Are you kidding? I linked 9/11 with Saddam Hussein.'"

Bopp and Norcross dismissed the criticism Wednesday and said the publicity generated by the proposal was good for the GOP.

"It has generated the debate we had hoped for," Bopp said. "It was an effort to educate the American people, and it was successful."

Norcross said it was a bid to raise awareness of the Democratic agenda so that Americans can be "properly fearful."

    Are you properly fearful now?

I certainly hope you enjoy those 6 weeks of vacation with the $3.50 you have left over after the government is finished pilfering your pockets.

This is what boggles my mind about some Democrats. They talk about all these great things they want, yet they never seem to understand that they are still paying for it with higher taxes.

That's actually what tends to boggle my mind about Republicans. For example, health care. Republicans tend to act like if we don't cover people, we don't pay for their health care, ignoring the fact that we pay for their emergency room coverage and all sorts of other health costs in the form of state and local taxes or higher health care costs.

So they simply look at the cost of national health care without recognizing all the savings in other parts of the process.

Refman, have you ever been to Europe? Or possibly met some European tourists on their six week vacations touring around?

California is what happens with the conservative anti-tax thing gone wild.

The yahoos there made it virtually impossible through constitutional amendments to raise taxes enough to pay for services that Americans in this day and age expect from their government.

This is, apparently, true. Arnold cannot push through any budget or budget reform. He's going to cull seven days from the school year, fire a bunch of folks and pull back on tons of programs.

People will, naturally, be pissed. Because they're ****ing stupid. Hell, only 17% even voted on the budget reforms put forward. They interviewed some lady who gave the hackneyed "my vote won't matter" bull.

Democracy fails under apathy and ignorance.

Is is frustrating when conseratives fuc*up government and then try to use that as evidence that government doesn't work.

Fortunately I think that the populace is getting wise to this. You do have the Libertarians and the anti-government ideologues maintaining the faith, but they are a dwindling few.

^ because their property taxes have been capped for 30 years, forcing them to make up for lost revenue with less efficient means.

Stop trying to confuse the issue with facts. Aren't you aware that the facts have a well known liberal bias?
