have to do a quick presentation on the importance of sport for a public speaking workshop can anyone tell me the total numbers of poeple who attend the following sports over a whole season NFL MLB NBA Soccer and how many people watch the Superbowl Olympic Soccer World Cup
NFL MLB MLB Approx. 89.6 Million watched the Superbowl. Source Approx 3.9 billion worldwide saw part of the olympics. Source Couldn't find soccer figures.
The final of the last soccer world cup was watched by 1.1 billion people. If you measured the last soccer world cup like an event where people would attend (in other words, if you can count an individual that watches two games twice), you would have 49.2 billion viewers (these numbers are from the official FIFA website, but I could only find them in German, http://www.fifa.com/de/marketing/newmedia/index/0,1347,10,00.html). I cannot give you other numbers, one would have to do a rough calculation. Just the German Bundesliga had about 30,000 people in attendance per game on average. With 34 x 9 games, you have attendance figures of about 9 million people per season for that alone. You would have similar numbers in England, Spain, Italy, probably even higher numbers in Brazil. There are so many countries where soccer is the sport no. 1. Here are the figures for England: http://www.soccerstats.com/2khcrowd.asp?league=england&rankby=1 Germany: http://www.soccerstats.com/2khcrowd.asp?league=germany&rankby=1 etc. Soccer numbers easily dwarf all the US major sports leagues combined.
Super Bowl is every year. Football is on TV World Cup final is every four years. bigtexxx and DoD, you should drive down Westheimer Parkway past Highway 6 on Saturdays and Sundays, then go down Clay between Eldridge and Highway 6. Then come back and tell me what sport they're playing. Did you mean 14 thousand, or hundred? That was a nice one, though... much props.
