If Google is doing it, I expect it to be good. However...this is nothing groundbreaking. Boxee has been out for a while, and my new Sony Bravia has a bunch of streaming video apps built-in. And their point about 'changing your schedule to watch tv' is a little off- most people have DVRs and can watch whenever once it's recorded. Sure, you have to wait for it to come on, but it's still not the end of the world. Glad there's another option- competition is a good thing.
this is going to sick..... I was watching the Google I/O live stream yesterday and the features it has on there are pretty incredible they showed where u can use your phone to voice search on the Google TV, and it was pretty instant
http://addins.kwwl.com/blogs/criticalmass/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/roku.jpg I think Roku is already a step ahead of Google Tv...
I agree with those who say Apple blew a 2 year headstart with Apple TV by treating like a "hobby". They can only blame themselves.
Awesome! Love Goggle so much. Their stuff always seems to be pretty amazing, even if it's not ground breaking in the sense there might be some other service doing some thing similar, they always seem to revolutionize how it's done.
I like the idea but if this is streaming over the internet, it's a pretty bad idea at the moment because of bandwidth issues. Another thing is that what about commercials or ads? How are shows supposed to make money off from this?
Someone that knows something about this... Im most likely jumping ship from the iphone to the Droid Incredible...anyone know if Google TV will have any sort of impact on the phone?
Odd how this was made a few years ago as a joke: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J9SK_M_nVWA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J9SK_M_nVWA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
If any of these things come out that actually work well and gain mass popularity, which will then further improve the product...awesome! but, the 2 minute video at the start of this thread is really not that cool. hopefully google will add some cache and make it work.
There is so much more to this than what this 2 minute video has shown. This is not just about internet TV. What google TV will do is search out all video sources that you have access to on the web and video sources you have at home. Google TV is working with Dish Network to bring satellite TV in the mix. There is nothing really revolutionary about this. Google is not creating a TV network. Its more like a search engine.
