I have a few digital video files (150mb-750mb) that I need to send out to somebody but I don't know where to host them so I can link them for download. Anyone know of a good place to host them? Preferably for free if possible. I just need to get this videos emailed to a friend of mine.
I've read about this new company in beta. Been meaning to try it out. http://www.bitcasa.com/ Anyways, if you try the above out, private message me to let me know if it was as simple and useful as it seems. I think it's $10 per month, but seems like a solid deal... It seems like free, effectively unlimited cloud storage is coming. How the companies ultimately make money, I don't know - maybe the free unlimited part is only for "consumer / personal" type users and they are just trying to get brand name growth to ultimately attract the corporations, which drives firm value (why Box and Dropbox are so big)... here's an article on free cloud storage: http://www.bestfreecloudstorageproviders.com/best-free-cloud-storage-providers/
I am going to look into the bitcasa if what I am trying now does not work. I clicked on that link and am trying out the Cloud Experience (CX) storage option right now. I will let you know what I choose once this upload completes. Thanks for the options though!
Yeah I have used drop box before, but they have a file size limit on what you can upload. I may look into this Box.com storage too. Thanks!
www.ibackup.com I used this a lot so I can answer any questions you have on it. It's the simplest way of sharing large files that I know of.
Hmm, I may have to look into this now. I never knew there was a difference between the two. I always just used dropbox for my android stuff but not files from PC. Thanks
Yeah you are limited to 300 MB via web (and im guessing via phone). https://www.dropbox.com/help/5/en
Best way is FTP-ing it onto a website you have or your company's website (assuming you have access), then sending the direct link. That's how I roll, Dropbox is cumbersome in my experience. Opting-in for emails, etc... the whole experience is a pee-pee game.
If you put a file in your "Public" folder on dropbox and then send the public link, I believe others can download a file without having a dropbox account.
I use usenet newsgroups to download video files others have posted. The files are around a gig and I download them in a few minutes. You could find a low traffic group and password protect the files. Most usenet providers limit the upload size so you split the files up then rejoin them once downloaded. Takes some learning, but is pretty simple.
What's this limit about...? Only the single file upload? I have 3.5 G total of free space (5GB total capacity).
