In all seriousness, I think it will be good for the NBA as a whole if Yao does turn into at the least a Vlade Divac type player. The ever expanding NBA needs more non-US players to increase the talent pool. Unfortunately, Yao Ming will be in the same division as my Grizzlies. It looks like you guys are about to get him signed and sealed to a contract that is good for the Rockets and not just the CBA. Also, In the Mid West, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and Memphis will all be having new cribs to battle in the future. The Grizzlies need to start winning soon because we need a rival. Can't be a rival if you are always losing
Thanks for the nice words, MemphisX. And don't worry, the Grizz will be major players in the division soon enough. As far as rivals go, hope for that rumored plan of Minnesota going to the East and the Hornets replacing them in the division. Now that would be a lot of fun, especially if the Hornets can keep Davis.
I'll be interested to see if they decide to move the Hornets into the midwest division and shift Memphis to the East. There has been talk of that given the proximity of NO to Houston. Either way, this is gonna be a ROCKIN' division!
Thanks MemphisX - with Pau Gasol, Shane Battier, Jerry West and the #4 pick it shouldn't take long for rivalries to develop.
I thought about that too. IMO it would be an interesting move, but I'd like to see the Rocks aquire Jamaal Magliore first.
Actually, I hope they move Memphis instead of Minnesota. With the good draft from last year, with the #4 pick this year, and with Jerry West on board, I am more scared of Memphis a couple years down the road than Minnesota (which has little chance for future improvement).
