Beijing to host first Mr. Gay China pageant

Show intends to help citizens acknowledge China's thriving gay community

The Mr. Gay China pageant is coming up and contestant David Wu is a bit worried.

It's not the underwear competition that's making him jittery — he's been working out harder than usual to get ready. And he's looking forward to the opportunity to meet other "comrades," as gay men in China are called.

Just one thing troubles the handsome 30-year-old: His parents don't know he's gay.

"Most Chinese media won't cover it (the pageant), so I think it's unlikely that my parents will find out about me because of this event," said Wu, from the southwestern city of Chengdu. "On the other hand, if they did... maybe it's a good opportunity to tell them."

Featuring a fashion show and a host in drag, Mr. Gay China, set for Friday night in the capital city of Beijing, is the country's first gay pageant, marking another step toward greater awareness of homosexuals in a country where gays are frequently discriminated against and ostracized. Eight men compete for the title and a spot in the Worldwide Mr. Gay pageant, to be held next month in Oslo, Norway.

Organizer Ben Zhang said the main purpose of the pageant was to help people realize that there is a thriving gay community in China.

Are you saying that there could be extremely flamboyant gay bombers at some point during the festivities ?

    A sad day for China.
    ______

^Beijing, China (CNN) -- The stage was set, the event sold-out. International media cameras lined up along on the catwalk beneath rows of gleaming spotlights, but an hour before the Mr. Gay China pageant was supposed to start, police shut it down.

The announcement triggered a media scrum at LAN, a flashy nightclub in downtown Beijing. Event organizer Ben Zhang of Gayographic disappeared amid what seemed to be an intense conversation with authorities.

How could there be? You aren't expected to make an appearance.

Not at all. Just a pathetic moron making a troll thread and the mods not doing anything about it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just delays your big decision for another day, in case you weren't ready...

It's kind of like watching two dudes play ping pong, but one of them is using a piece of overcooked spaghetti. The Helmet gag is kind of like the guy who is actually using a pingpong paddle smashing the ball into the nads of the dude playing with a limp noodle.

MFW, I hope you realize this thread is funny, specifically, because your posts exhibit zero sense of humor... categorically.

I have to think that the "M" in MFW has to stand for moron. I haven't seen the word used as much by anyone since grade school, anywhere, as I have by him in this forum. The irony is that the word fits MFW better than it fits anyone else.
