Damn, looking at their mock draft, that would really suck if Vlad Rad actually slipped as low as 17, and was then picked up a slot before us.

I like the Woods pickup at #13 though.

Good article, but a few errors I noticed. They say we got the #23 pick via Orlando via Dallas, but wasn't that pick a part of the Jason Coller trade with Milwaukee last season?

Also, they said that Bullard is a solid journeyman... I thought that Bullard played with us most of his career save that year in Atlanta and maybe his rookie year... anyone know?

I followed the links and read the info. Thanks. I liked the Rockets' analysis.

I was not impressed with their mock draft, however. It is the worst I have seen. They are way off.

I was not to impressed with their mock either, and that would suck if Rad is gone by #18. His stock is really on the move! That would be a tough decision for CD at #13. You might be looking at Joe Johnson, Richard Jefferson, Loren Woods, Rad etc..... and you know they will all be gone by #18.

Maybe the rockets are able to move #18 and #23 to move up a few slots.

Thanks barbourdg!! This site is awesome. The mock draft isn't terrible, but it's noticeably deficient. But I love going back and looking at the pre-draft analysis of players who sucked, like Yinka Dare and Ed O'Bannon.

The Scouts on this site are idiots! They have Chandler at 2 and Randolph at 5.
In 98 they didn't have Mobley on their list of the TOP 75 players in the draft, and look at their evaluation of Francis:

I have real doubts about how good a pro Francis is going to be. He's an extraordinary athlete who is as much fun to watch in transition as anybody in the NCAA (well, maybe Baron Davis). But he's not comfortable at all in the half-court offense, either at point or on the wing.
He's not a particularly good long-range shooter nor does he distribute the ball well in the half-court. He's very intense, but he's often TOO intense; he tries to play beyond what he can handle in big games and makes crucial mistakes. He's a good rebounder for a guard and a decent man defender. Francis is too good an athlete to wash out entirely. But he's awfully short to play off guard and will have to learn half-court point guard skills almost from scratch. If he can't do that he may end up more as an elite 6th man, an instant excitement off the bench type, than as a starting point guard. And you really don't want to spend an early or even mid- lottery pick on that kind of player. Very high upside, but I like other point guards better in this draft.

that has got to be one of the worst articles I have read about Francis (before the draft) they should have an apology letter in their site indicating how wrong they were.....

The 22nd pick was from the Milwaukee for Collier trade. The Magic DID aquire the 23rd pick from Dallas.

Yeah, John Carter knows his Rockets. I wonder why he does not show his face here.

"For the 10 years that there has been a Usenet Mock Draft, John Carter has been the Rockets GM.

    This is a damnable lie.

1993 had a different author, who btw also supplied great Rocket analysis [IMG] Ah the Usenet, I remember it well.

Here is there 1997 report on Cato. Again I submit, it not the skill it's the will. You have to evaluate your draft picks for their work ethic and desire to be the best. Skip those slackers who out-talent the competition in college cause they won't cut it in the bigs.

Kelvin Cato has seen his stock soar in the past month by having very strong
showing at the Potsmith Invitational. Although he is not a great offensive
threat, his shot blocking and rebounding skills have made him a probable
lottery pick. Cato never played high school ball and saw his first minutes
at South Alabama where he led his conference in blocked shots before
transfering to Iowa State where he helped in taking the Cyclones to
    back-to-back NCAA tounaments.

Um... I get the opinion that most people are missing the point here.

    1. The intresting thing about this draft is that each team has an actual real person picking for it. It's not like every other draft where one individual is making a montage, but rather everyone for their team. It has some of the excitement of the draft in that a pick is made and you can sit and see who is next, sort of like a runthrough.

2.As far as the old scouting reports... well the best part of this page IS the old scouting reports. It provides constant, painful evidence that the opinions of fans, media pundits, and even NBA executives are very often wrong.

Think about it. There is a very good chance that someone you want to be drafted will turn out to be a lazy crack smoking loafing punk. There is something that you believe to be true that is wrong. That is a very important intelectual leap, and an important lesson for life as well as basketball.

    And at 913, you're only 4 away from 917.
