Coming to Houston next weekend and I'm looking for some restaurant recommendations. My wife and I are staying near the Galleria. I know Cafe Annie is near but I'm not looking that fancy. Thanks in advance!
Ranosh is the best Middle Eastern food in Houston. I believe its on Richmond. Nice hangout little place. Can smoke sheesha till late at night.
Chuy's Cheesecake factory if you town doesn't have one Grand Luxe There is a Palm down westehimer Trulucks Pappas steak house
My pics, in no particular order: Ruggles Irma's (Downtown) Truluck's Kemah Boardwalk, where there's lots to choose from...
The search is over. Good Eats Grill Houston Inside Holiday Inn 15222 JFK Blvd. Houston, TX 77032 (281) 442-2815 phone
This place was good back in the mid-90s but it got pretty bad after a while. Anyone coming to Houston has to try Pappadeux or Pappas Seafood Kitchen. Their fried catfish is 2nd to none. If you are into oysters, get a couple dozen Gulf oysters as an appetizer.
El Tiempo on Buffalo Speedway and Richmond. Kiran's is good, as Mr. Brightside suggested, but if you like tandoori meats, I suggest London Sizzler on Hillcroft and 59.
Ranosh does feel dirty. I don't like the food nor the atmosphere there. I have been there twice to meet some friends, the second time with my girlfriend, and would never go back with her again. Dirty greasy men that just stare! Fadi's is good, a bit too generic for me now. I used to love it. Personally, I think Darband is the best.
I like Phoenicia Deli on Westheimer near Dairy Ashford over all of them. Have you checked out their new grocery store across the street from the deli? So much selection! Its as big as Fiesta.
Disregard everyone else's suggestions. Most of the above are horrible. Let me know the type of food you are looking for, and I'll let you know. But for newbie's to Houston, I always suggest Ninfa's on Navigation and Shanghai Grill. Both are not only Houston institutions, but both give a really good flavor of Houston that isn't typically generic, such as Midtown, or the Galleria, et. al. That being said, I defy you to find a comparable city that offers as good of food as we offer. And I have been everywhere. Of course, the palate dictates which you may prefer, but every city has their specialties. And Houston has tons. Also, if you get the chance, and can afford it (ie. $25/plate) I highly suggest Rainbow Lodge. IMO, the best restaurant in the city. Let me know.
