If anybody is around the west side of town and looking for something to do tonight, I recommend checking out the Shawn Pittman blues band tonight at Shakespeare Pub (near Kirkwood and Memorial). Sometimes blues bands can be kind of boring if they are mediocre or less than than enthusiastic, but I caught these guys last month and thought they were fantastic. They throw in plenty of originals to mix it up, the band is solid and the guy is a really good guitar player and has a good voice. There usually isn't a cover at Shakespeare's, or if so, it is minimal. You might want to check it out.
Also, the Tony Vega band is playing at the Big Easy on Saturday night and always puts on a great show.
