The girlfriend and I will be in town in two weeks (to stay for a week) with my family. It'll be my first visit to the hometown since about 4 years ago. My girlfriend has never been. I've developed an extreme liking for Chinese food since I left Houston, and now, I would love to have some great Authentic China Town Chinese food. I know Yao's will be the most common response, but is that the absolute best? I'm just looking to show the girl a good time, and I think Chinatown would be a fun place to visit and have a good meal.... Any advice is appreciated.
I doubt anyone will answer Yao's. My Asian friends don't care for the place. Fung's Kitchen on the SW Freeway near Sharpstown is really good and authentic.
I heard multiple times that Yao's is not all that great. I love triple 8 off the gulf freeway and woodridge. Cheap prices and great tasting food.
Most people usually suggest Fung's. I didnt care for it when I went there but I also didn't go to the location everyone seems to be talking about
Been to Yao's restaurant, it's alright.. I'd recommend P.F. Changs, but some of my Asian friends tell me that it's fake compared to local chinese places. Also, Panda Garden is a good place too.
Ambassador. Small family run restaurant. The owner is Wendy and her husband cooks in the kitchen. They will take care of you and some of the best Chinese food I know of in town.
If you want a nice sit down meal...Fung's Kitchen and Arco Seafood (Bellaire and Beltway) are good. It'll be more expensive but it's good quality authentic chinese food. If you want a quick casual meal...Sinh Sinh, Tan Tan, Hong Kong Food Street, and House of Bowls (all in Chinatown) are all pretty good.
Hunan Empress in Sugarland used to be my spot but it's no more! I started a thread on this a while back, if anyone can find it I think it would be quite helpful to the O.P.
I found Sinh Sinh to be a little on the dirty side, didn't like the food either. Tan Tan was ok. *arkoe falls asleep dreaming of Walnut Shrimp sans the walnuts.
That's somewhat true about the meals not being that great, but yeah I agree that place is pretty expensive.
i gotta recommend 888 on 45 and woodridge Everytime I have people come in town, I gotta take them there and I live in Katy. I have yet to have someone tell me not to take them back there again
Peking Cuisine is a hole in the wall kind of place on 59@Bissonett. Peking Duck and pretty much everything I've tried is pretty good.
Panda Express. They're everywhere like McD's. On the reals, the food in China kicks ass. I love the Sichuan province (very spicy food). I've realized a lot of food here wasn't as good as I thought it was. My stomach is still adjusting and everything here tastes so artificial.
On Eldridge in Sugar Land? Hell yes. Audrey and Eddie (the owners of the place) are freaking AWESOME, and their food is great. Their sesame chicken and lo mein is the best I've ever had. The place is also pretty nice, so you can have a good meal. It's Hunan style. They have another restaurant in town called Han Dynasty, but I've not been there yet.
I LMAOed when i see people saying panda express and **** LOL you guys want some authentic chinese food, go to hong kong food street on bellaire. thats the real **** you bunch of fake chinese food whores
